So this Sunday the family and I will be boating and I plan to put the Mavic to it's intended use and fly it over the ocean waters to get aerial footage of our boat and others around us at a get togehter thats happening... As far as settings go, I know to turn off VPS but are there any other recomendations as far as modes to be in and what video/camera settings are suggested for flying in the bright sun over reflective waters? Im no expert on videoagraphy, I have only thrown together short clips and videos using my Gopro 5. Any suggetions are much appreciated.

I would set my failsafe for signal loss (don't remember what the specific setting is called) to Hover (by default, it is set to RTH).  Then, if you lose signal, return closer to where the craft is using last known GPS coordinate and re-establish connection with the drone and retake control.
