I totally understand that DJI is doing all they can to get these shipped - I do think they could be a little more forthcoming about shipping estimates and could certainly provide more frequent updates - what I don't understand and what bugs me the most is their policy of charging us when the order is placed vs. when the order is shipped.  

Normally it probably wouldn't be such a big deal if they were shipping with minimal delay (like within a few weeks) - but for them to essentially be holding money for what's turning out to be over two months or more is simply unacceptable.  Other companies don't charge you until they ship.  Given the delay they should have refunded all charges until they shipped.

Agree, this is getting frustrating. I understand the concept of a preorder, but, usually if there is no solid delivery date then your preorder is a fraction of the total. i.e. Tesla, you put down $1,000 (which is refundable) for a car that will be ready some time in 2017.

Simple answer - because they could.  Does wonders for their cashflow - the pre-orders basically paid for all the manufacturing.  Great business model if you can get away with it, I guess.

They definitely need to change this.  Its not an ethical way to do business.

I ordered the P4 Pro+. They charged my card, it was on there a couple days, then took it off my account. So i assume they aren't charging now until it ships.

That is great to hear!  I may have to preorder an inspire 2.  

I'm getting mine on eBay, have paid in full (C.C.) already. Down side, I'm paying interest before I get it, the seller is collecting interest before he delivers it. On the other side of the argument, if you didn't put anything down your on the bottom of the list, the more you put down the higher on the list you are for delivery. I hope.
