DJI KEN or anyone from DJI is this ok with DJI?
It's not with me. There is a seller on eBay selling Mavic batteries for $195 each. Says he has 10 available and already sold 5. What gives? There are perhaps thousands of us out here waiting to buy these batteries, but not for this rip off price!! Don't these businesses who are authorized DJI dealers have certain rules for conducting business under the DJI name.
Next they will be selling the Mavic for $2000 instead of giving it to the customers who have ordered, or maybe that is happening now.

Not when it supposedly from an authorized dealer, they're not allowed to raise prices as far as I know.

Most manufactures disallow their authorized retailers from selling about MSRP, just like many disallow them from discounting...  Pricing is often tightly controlled.

Well, he might not be an authorized dealer. Just abusing the name. That would be wrong.

You can't just assume that all sellers are bound by a pricing agreement.  That aside, put yourself in the seller's shoes - due to the delays in any stock he's not seeing any income but fielding all the orders/cancellations/complaints etc on behalf of DJI. If he can sell those few batteries for a good price, then I believe he should have that opportunity. The inability for supply to meet demand is not caused by him.

You are free to buy from other sellers. If you need them badly and can't find any other seller, the price is right.

I don't need them badly. This is price gouging and if this was any other commodity having a shortage, it would be illegal. I'm sure this isn't illegal, but businesses have standards they expect their venders follow so as not to give them a bad name.

As long as other sources still have these items at a lower price (even in short supply), this isn't really price gouging. If this dealer had the ONLY available supply, that might be a different situation.

It's not the seller who is creating the shortage.

Also, I'm sure there are some buyers who are really happy to find stock, even at a premium. These guys will highly rate that seller.

Someone that is an authorized dealer and sells on eBay DJI should stop that immediately

You do have an option to not purchase and wait. I haven't received mine yet but I don't blame people for selling theirs if they are gonna get a rediculous price. I blame those willing to pay.

Actually that's the very definition of price gouging.  Increasing prices due to a short supply.  Although that also defines supply and demand, it's gouging when the price far outweighs the supply and demand relationship.

DJI needs to do things to prevent this from happening, especially now that's been going on for 3 or 4 different drones.  But I agree with you - people need to stop paying those prices.

Yes, there is something wrong with it if a dealer is taking customers orders and not shipping to them but instead selling on Ebay for double or triple the retail price.

Price gouging is a pejorative term referring to when a seller spikes the prices of goods, services or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair, and is considered exploitative, potentially to an unethical extent.

Figure it out for yourself, to me it's as close to gouging as could be..

I stand corrected! I was under the impression it only applied to situations where the goods being sold were necessities during events like natural disasters. BTW, wikipedia is not a dictionary. Here is a better definition (from your source though):

I bought two batteries from Apple today..........Its a hit or miss with stock I walked in the store and seen two batteries on the shelf next to their MAVIC and CONTROLLER.

Ive seen MAVICS selling for 2700-3000 on eBay.........If the demand continues I just might post my MAVIC on E-Bay.  

Batteries .. i purchased just magic on 10/01 and did receive ... very happy .. ordered 2 more batteries on 10/04 ... have not received ... I expect the batteries are the major hold up in all of this due to combos not being sent as fast as just a single magic purchase ... hard to believe somebody could get 10 batteries at this time and have them when so many are waiting ... sounds fishy to me.

Yes, it's a dealer selling for what they are supposed to sell them for.
And they do not have stock and will ship the end of December.

Yea, it's real. Not only is their price $10 lower, but they take offers. I got mine for $969 to be delivered in Dec. Plus they have the batteries at a lower price. $87.00
