Today I was flying over by the lake and got a very strong jello effect in my video. It seemed to start when I was about 1000 feet out and it ended right before I brought it back and landed. I watched the video on making sure the gimbal is properly secured and there were no problems before or after the flight with how it was situated.

Has anyone else experienced this? It hasn't happened again, but on one of the flights where I tried to replicate it I also experienced some issues with coming home because obstacle avoidance kept getting tricked by the sun. I also have a slight drift to the right

Have you tried the RC stick calibration to correct the right drift?

No I'll definitely need to do that once I get a chance. I'm more concerned about the video

What resolution/framerate were you shooting in? I've seen more jello issues with higher framerate video. You can also do a gimbal calibration to see if that helps the video.
I would just do those two calibrations and then continue to fly, making note of how you are flying and the conditions if the jello happens again.

Sorry you are experiencing this.
There's never been a crash or hard landing right?
have you done a gimbal calibration?
Does the gimbal look like it's properly attached?
Did it only do this in the one flight?
Are you on the latest firmware?
Also try a factory restore from the Assistant2, if none of this helps then please contact support and send the craft in for evaluation.

Only this flight. I've never had a hard landing or a crash, and the gimbal is definitely set correctly and I'm on the most recent firmware from 11/9. I haven't done a gimbal calibration yet, but also haven't had it happen again. I'm going to try and do a calibration for the slight drift issue tomorrow and see what happens.

It may have been some strong wind if that's the only time it has done it.
As far as the drift, make sure your compass calibration is done in an interference free area and have no metal on your person. No phone, keys, watch, jewelry, and set the phone/RC several feet away from you.
This should clear your drift, if not then perform a IMU calibration on an very flat surface like your kitchen counter. And make sure there are no vibrations at all during the calibration.
Let me know how it all goes.

I had the exact same problem every single flight.  Posted here: https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... mp;page=1#pid566854

The video was even like that when the Mavic was sitting on the ground with motors off!

I tried all suggestions mentioned above and nothing worked.  I didn't want to go through the process of sending it in for repair so I just returned it for a refund.  I got lucky and found one at an Apple Store the same day and my new Mavic works perfectly.

Have a look at the gimble plate positioning and the "hook" which this guy mentions in his video may help. It's down about 8 mins into the video.

My original post says that I understand how to properly situate the gimbal, and that there was no issue. Nonetheless, the problem never reoccured.

I had the same effect but I need now some more tests if the recalibration stuff and everything else worked well. My drone looked perfect, Gimbal well positioned no hard landing - so I need to fly again to check it

Unacceptable Jell-O results

, with the problem made better only with a lower resolution and the crystal cover left on. It was 100% failure when I flew without the crystal cover and I take that to be wind turbulence around at the camera even at moderate speeds. Perhaps a gamble calibration before each flight has helped a little. I've had no crashes or hard landings. I have flown DJI phantoms and I have an Inspire with perhaps two years flying altogether and did not expect to get the same quality as the larger bird but at least acceptable quality such as I have seen from DJI and others here on this forum.
