Can anyone confirm if Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7" (SM-T280NZKAXAR) is compatible with DJI GO/Mavic Pro?

Hi Eagle, please refer to our device recommended list.
Since Samsung Tab A is not in the device recommended list, it may be incompatible with DJI GO app.

Will this list ever be updated?  On the Android side it sure looks pretty sparce and outdated with old Samsung devices.

Hooked up a Galaxy Tab A 7" to the controller and turned everything on... went as far as starting the props but didn't take off because it was indoors. Everything in app looks good so far from what i can tell. Will know more tomorrow after testing in flight. Fits inside controller arms perfectly and with the left angle micro usb cable to usb port it's comfortable in hand without cable end sticking out.

See if you can fly a good distance and not have any lag in the video, it it transmits video just fine no app glitches then it may be ok.

Also check to see if 'follow me' mode works. It seems to be problematic on some Android devices.

Flew out about 2000 feet this afternoon and didn't experience any lag. Briefly tested POI just to confirm it was working but other than that it was a short 8 min flight. No issues or problems to report that i'm aware of however will be doing some more flying over the next several days. Will post video once I can get it uploaded.

Great, glad it's working good for you.

Here's the video from earlier today. I know the video is irrelevant to the thread but it's the only thing I have not been completely happy about with my Mavic. Is it just my eyes or is there something up with the camera?

Thanks for the feedback on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7" functionality. i just bought one hoping it would work. Are you running Android OS 5.0 or did it let you upgrade to a newer version OS?

Do you have your gimble guard on? It looks like it is based on some of the glare showing up in the video?

No the dome cover was off. Have actually never flown with it on yet. I see some of the reflection coming off of the props though.

mine came with 5.1.1 preloaded as well and it says there are no new updates available at this time. I installed the dji GO 4 app and it loaded fine and seems to work as much as I can tell without having a drone to connect it too.

Did a short hover inside the house last night with the Tab A running DJI Go 4 and everything worked as it should. Raining in my area over the next couple of days unfortunately so won't be able to test much until the end of the week.

It's a very tight squeeze with the 7" but I've seen that an ipad mini 4 can and that's 8". I think the Tab A 8 has greater dimensions compared to the mini 4 though so would be interesting to know but can't give a definitive answer.

Looks like the Sun and props reflecting onto the lens.  Otherwise video looks good to me.

go to know.....I read on another thread that the dji GO 4 app will be the default app for the Mavic in the near future. Not sure if this is true or not but looks like it has a few nice enhancements and extra features over the dji GO app.

I read on another thread that the ND filters helps alot.
I did purchase the polar pro 6set nd filter.
It is on back order at this time , so cant give any personal feedback yet.

I am testing out a friend's Asus ZenPad 8 Z380M (wifi only) before I decide to buy one for the Mavic (latest DJI Go app as of today). It seems like I am not retrieving the map of my location even through I have good wifi connection and GPS lock on the drone. Location services are on in the tablet, but no map info appearing.

Granted I know this is not an approved device, but maybe someone with some experience can offer some guidance on what I may be missing.

Bad news... Just tested the Tab A with DJI GO 4 outside and could not maintain a connection. Video dropped out as soon as it lifted off and even returned to the app home screen. Looks like I'll be uninstalling 4 and going back to the original app.

I was afraid that the GO 4 would have connection issues.  I also just bought a Tab A7 to be my dedicated Mavic device.  Thanks for verifying the fit in the controller.  Were you doing the tap to focus thing on your video.  Maybe that is why it didn't look right.

Didn't get a chance to focus on anything before the video feed went out as it was lifting off. Tab still working well with DJI GO 3.

no...I didn't order mine (first one) until 11/25 direct from DJI with a 6-8 week expected delivery so I have some time before I am hoping to see it. However, I have heard NewEgg orders have begetting processed much quicker so I ordered another one there yesterday and it said it ships on 1/1/17. So whichever ships first, I will cancel the other order once I get a valid tracking number.

I don't see anything wrong with the camera. Video is great. Yes some sun shade off blades, but that is to be expected. Sharpness seem good corner to corner. Too bad the leaves aren't out. A sad situation for all of us in Northern climes, delayed delivery had us miss the fall foliage bloom. Nice Castle.

I just bought and returned the Zenpad S8 (Z580). It was a nicely spec'd out little tablet but the video feed was jerky when using it. It was pretty annoying and it also had me worried that all the bloatware on the tablet was causing poor performance (leading to the video issue) and might eventually cause it to crash while in a flight. I'm evaluating the Tab A7 and iPad Mini 2 now.

Just wanted to confirm that DJI Go App (Version 3) works pretty well with my Mavic Pro and Galaxy Tab A (SM-T280) and Android 5.1.1. However, with the DJI Go 4 App, I experienced frequent signal losses with the Galaxy Tab A even in very close distance to the Mavic.

I can confirm the same thing - I have the Galaxy Tab A6 7.0 SM-T280NZKAXAR and it works perfectly with Go App but with Go App 4 it is terrible, terrible video lag, video freezes, video disconnects - and is basically unusable. Have unistalled Go App 4 and gone back to Go App and its working fine again. Tab has 5.1.1 T280XXU0APL7 firmware. Hopefully a future update to Go App 4 will fix this.

It has been a bit since I piped in on this thread as I finally got my Mavic and have been enjoying it as much as possible. I haven't had any issues with the DJI GO app to date with over 25 flights and 3 or 4 hours of flying. I am afraid to try the DJI GO 4 app. I have only tried it in the house without powering up the motors. It seems to respond to everything and the video doesn't appear to lag but it may be a different story when in flight.

On another note, I see there is an update for the Samsung tablet but I am hesitant to install it since it is working well as-is and since it is dedicated to the Mavic I see no real reason to do so unless it somehow improves the performance with the DJI GO 4 app....anyone install it yet?

I just bougth a Galaxy Tab E T113 to use with the MAVIC and I have a lag of almost 3 sec and a lot of signal lost.
Cannot fly with it
With the Iphone 6 no problem at all...

Yeah unfortunately the Tab E is way too underpowered to cope with the app and the 720p video stream. The Tab S2 works just fine, or a GS6 and GS7 - i have tested all three of those and they work perfectly. Definately need an android device with a bit of grunt to make things work properly.
