Trying to get my spare sony Z3 to work (USB port on side) so need a longer cable. Trying a USB on the bottom port and it won't connect.  Yes the top left cable is not plugged in.

If I plug in the short included cable in the top left port the phone works as it should (just can't be in the arms as its too short) and validates that the phone is working correctly. I have tried multiple cables inthe bottom port, always with the top left port empty....will not connect.

What am I missing?

Unplug the cable off the side USB port to enable the bottom USB port.

As I said,  left cable was not plugged in

And now it's working. Not sure what was up. Tried my S7 on the same cable on bottom port and it worked,  switched to the Sony z3 and now working!

YES.

It wasn't always like this but was mode so in a a recent firmware update. I assume to prevent the connections interfering with each other.    I believe you can still connect a charge only cable to the top port to top the RC battery while feeding data to/from and app through the lower. But I have not need for this.
