I live in Northern Virginia near Washington DC. Literally three blocks outside of 12 mile NFZ.I own both Phantom 4 and Mavic Pro.

With my Phantom 4, I can fly from my backyard and fly to the opposite direction just fine.
Just got my Mavic Pro last week, she comes up not able to fly because it says that it's in restricted area.

* I use the same iPhone with the same DJI Go app to fly.
* I tried two drones back to back with the same iPhone: P4=no problem, MP=NFZ
* the GeoFencing is set to be "off" in both sessions in DJI Go app
* in DJI Go app, the map shows that I'm outside the red NFZ zone (in both cases) and good to go.
* B4UFLY app shows that I'm good to go from my location.


two drones from same DJI... other than the drones/remote, it's literally the same condition... Not sure why Mavic thinks I'm in restricted area when Phantom 4 thinks we are good to go.  

the fact is that I am truly at a location where it's allowed to fly.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall the Go app. no joy on NFZ error.
running out of ideas to try.

Anyone have any ideas to try? Help~~~~

Went to my mothers in Ananndale and I experienced my first NFZ.  That' sucked. Glad I live in manassas. Let us know what you find out....

Yup.  I live right at the boarder of Vienna and Reston.
the 12 mile radius ends literally few blocks east of my house, thank God!

the most craziest thing is that my Phantom 4 flys just fine from my house, but my new Mavic Pro comes back saying that it's in restricted location.  the map shows that mavic is in cleared space in DJI Go app when it happens.   this is weird.

nope.  
DJI said that the NFZ info is built into the firmware.
for some reason my house deck is marked okay for Phantom 4.   But on Mavic, it's coded as no go.
I literally live less than 50 yards outside of where NFZ ends.

This really blows...

It does blow. There are some aerial photography gigs right next to me but cant take off with mavic!!!!!

The DC NFZ is actually 15-miles in diameter, and then there's the 5-mile NFZ for Dulles. The Mavic uses restrictions built in to newer DJI products, which is possibly why your P4 is unaffected. Just saw your comment about living 50 yards outside the NFZ -- there's another thread that suggests when you are near a NFZ border there might be a buffer zone before you can actually fly? Just conjecture on my part, but such a buffer zone might be to compensate for gps/map erros. Look forward to hearing what DJI tells you.
