Finally did my Jet Ski Active Track test with the Mavic. Quite cold here, but I didn't want to wait until the spring
Please do excuse the low resolution. As I mention in the vid, I used the 720p file from the DJI Go app to create this. I can't render 4k videos on my old laptop at the moment.
This is my first review/test video of any kind. Constructive feedback (both positive & negative) is always welcome.
Yeah it really did well keeping up with me. I liked the spotlight too as I felt like I had more freedom to speed around without worrying about keeping myself in the frame. I didn't play with Profile as much as I should have - Maybe when it heats up
I did turn them off before the flight, but in order to use Active Track the Mavic required they be turned back on. I took the risk and luckily nothing funky happened.
I think on profile mode it would just about keep up with you. At around 4:55-5:04 in the clip you'll see it get up to 24.7mph while trying to keep pace with me on a straight takeoff.
I have no clue how fast I was moving at that point, but not too fast because the controller was still in my lap and I was super cautious lol
Very cool, this one of the main reasons I bought the Mavic, can't wait to get it out on my ski (15 RXPX) I have about 10 guys I ride with, should be able to get some awesome shots.

Yeah I think some group follow shots would be really cool! Maybe there is a girlfriend of the guys who would be willing to guard the controller while you're out cruising
Thanks for sharing. Going to go out on some of my friend's jet skis later this week. My main concern is having the remote with me on the jet ski. I noticed you just laid it between your legs. Have you come up with any method to keep it dry or is that still pretty much what you do now when taking the Mavic out with you?
