In the US (FCC) the maximum range should be 7 km whereas in Europe we "only" have 4 km. I know it's because of the different regulations and I also know that 4 km are probabily more than enough, but anyway...it kind of sucks to know that your friends on the other side of the ocean pay the same product 25% less and that it even has better performance.

I tried to read myself into it, but from th P3 on it seems to be impossibile to switch to FCC. If I am right, the hardware changes between EU and US controller.


Is there any other solution exept buying it directly from the US?

FCC / CE mode is software controlled from the GPS reading on the craft.
Most countries UAV regulations limit you to visual range, so anything over 500m is purely academic anyway.
So no point trying to buy a USA Mavic as it will still set itself to CE when you turn it on...

If so, than if I go tho the US with my European drone than the controller switches to FCC and I can fly 7 km away and viceversa? Sounds a bit strange to me

Yes this exactly. FCC or CE transmission is set by GPS location.

it's all due to radio frequency/power regulations, the US allows higher output (26db for US and 20db for EU and rest of the world)

So there is nothing I can do to extend the range? I would have used it to fly around the summit of a mountain next to my house. The problem is not the maximum distance, but the height (400 m)

You can set the maximum height at up to 500m I believe.
