Sure, here's some piccies. Basically I stuck a tripod screw onto one of my batteries with Sugra.
I placed it on the battery as that way I know I'm not obscuring the GPS or magetometer on the Mavic.
And it means my other batteries are unmodified - so that's my '360 battery' though obviously can be used without anything mounted to it fine.
Obviously sticking something like this on will affect the centre of balance - it's extra weight to the front, but also it's quite high - so as the mavic pitches it's going to find a resitance and weight it's not expecting - think balancing a stick on your hand a bit (though far less extreme)
In flight - yes there is a difference, but only noticable when the mavic is transitioning - i.e. stopping. starting forward, pitching left or right (yaw seems pretty much unaffected). The difference seems to be confined to a bit of over correcting my the Mavic - it seems to do what it would normally do to stop a forward movement for example, then find it wasn't quite enough then do a bit more - it does this in a fraction of a second.
So of course I wouldn't advice flying with the insta360 mounted all the time, and when you do fly it be very very aware of what it's doing (no focusing on the screen), and make sure you are at least 2x as far away as your country laws state you should be from people and property in case stuff goes wrong - more if possible.
Saying that - it handles it like a charm - and it's only a total weight of around 120 grams or so.
The sugra takes out any small vibrations and the mavic is so ultra-stable that the result really is like you are on a flying carpet/mavic.
For those with access to a GearVR for example (I have one for my samsung s6) you really feel like you are standing on your mavic, looking down at the world around you. |
