I'm a full time in house graphic artist at Stanley Black & Decker and I spend a lot of time creating and editing videos. But as said before, Windows 10 has eliminated Quick Time player support hence why you cant play .MOV's and probably MP4's. Any video I create from RAW footage, whether it be .mov, .MTS, etc I have to use a special program to convert the final exported video as a WMV. No matter what it has its drawbacks, converting to a WMV distorts colors (which is really a pain to re-color correct again) so my preferred program of choice for editing on a mac is Adobe Premiere/after effects or Final cut pro/motion.
There is a way to get your original footage (.MOV) converted to an editable format (WMV) if you plan on using whatever Windows come with - there is a free online video converter -
I was actually able to compress the video, using the 'clipchamp' tool. Odd thing. The only difference between the one I had to compress and another video shot the same day, that did not require compression, was the size of the file, 3 gigs versus .8 of a gig. They were both shot at the same resolution, etc. Apparently, my laptop wants to 'prefetch' enough of the file to have continuous play, and fails on larger files. Does this sound logical? |
