Hello,

I am looking to purchase an IPAD to use with the DJI Go app.  Does the IPAD have to be the Wifi+Cellular version in order to use the GPS functions on the DJI Go app?

Thanks!

I wouldn't need to purchase a "cellular data plan" would I?  And thanks for your reply!

Yes and also No.
DJI Go does have the option to pre load your GPS map data so that WiFi only could be used, BUT if you go somewhere else and hae not pre loaded the new GPS map data, then you will not see the mapped information.

OK, thanks for that.  It probably just makes sense to get the Cellular version than rely on my laziness to download the map data.

yea, but then you're relying on (3) total devices to ensure the bird flies.

not really it just allows you to download maps etc in the field, once they are downloaded you are not relying on the phone in any way.  I just download the maps before taking off.

True, to really enjoy flying, having cellular is the way to go.

but why replicate the cellular in the iPad, new sim and plan etc, when you probably already have that in your phone.

Solid point.  I never use an iPad or Tablet when I fly, I just use my phone.
When I want to watch my flight, that is when I sync to my iPad or computer.

How? I belive, that when you go out, the phone is already with you, so it dosent really rely on that. And nothing will happen, when u dont have the maps. It will still locate you and the drone, just you are not abel to see the map picture. For example, when you need to RTH to your current location, it dosent matter if you have cached the map or not, it will still fly to you.

I tried linking my iPad mini 2 with my iPhone hot spot, but how can you link the aircraft and the hot spot at the same time? What am I doing wrong?
