From what I gathered, it seems that 2.6K is the way to go. It gives a benefit of future crop if ever required, and 4k on Mavic is just a gimmik, because bitrate they use is not suffcient for a frame of that size, making 4k in no way better (or even worse) then 2.6k
I agree, 4K is more of a gimmick. Does everyone realize that unless you have a 4K screen, 4K is pretty pointless. There is a slight difference if you're watching on a 1080p monitor, but after upload times, download times and space on your card/phone it's not worth it. 2K seems like a good middle ground if you really want to up your pixels and I honestly think 4K looks a little too grainy and cannot handle the light sensitivity yet. But if you are like me and downloading to your phone you will have to render down to 720p anyway. No one on their phone will be able to tell the difference if when at the time you were recording in 4K, 2K, 1080 or 720 because they are watching in less than 720p... I do shoot in 720p a lot because of this and I have no problems with it. Even when blown up it is more about the content than the quality...Keep that in mind. And as for frames per second (fps) if you shoot at a higher frame rate, (highest is 120 fps in 720p), you will be able to do slow-motion. Otherwise, if you are not trying to do slow-motion, I wouldn't go above 30 fps. |
