Hi all,
It would be great if users could post info about drone related events - or tips to great locations to fly in denmark?
Also if you're travelling to Denmark on vacation with your drone and are looking for info on the danish flight rules, please post your questions here, and I'll be happy to help you out.

But in general the flight rules for drones in Denmark are:
- No flying in urban areas without a national excemption- Flying in urban areas is only allowed for commercial flights
- Keep 150 m distance to people/traffic/houses
- 5K distance to airports (8K to military airports)
- Max altitude 100 m (120 m in urban areas with an excemption)
- No night flying without an excemption

Happy flying - and let us hear from you.

RE: Denmark - Flight rules / Locations

Thanks for posting the rules for the drones flights in Denmark. How is it possible to have an allowance for a night flight? Thanks.

Hello.

Sorry, but the rules threadstart lists are incorrect. Will refer to the Danish authorities instead.

http://www.trafikstyrelsen.dk/da/droneregler (Use Google translate)

Here is a link to a map of No Fly Zone (takes some time to load the card): http://zzz42drone.naviair.dk/

There is no ban on night flights in Denmark.

Note that there will be new rules on July 1, 2017 where you must register with the authorities for and have to fly. However, nobody still knows how to doo. In addition, your drone must after that date be insured against damage to another person's property for 750,000 Danish kroner.

Write to info@tbst.dk for further information.

Regards Leif.

Maybe you have some advices where I should go in order to see the most beautiful Denmark places? I am thinking about tours in Denmark. What you think? For instance, something like this: http://www.baltictours.com/info/tours-in-denmark/. Please, I really need your advice.

Oh, that's a hard question. I live on Jylland's shoulder far away from the capital and thought Copenhagen is a horrible place. But if you want to see nature around the capital, you will probably search in the NW direction towards Kongens Lyngby and Furesø. Yes, indeed, there are many beautiful places throughout the norden part of Sjælland.

Other great places are the whole island of Fyn with its many old manor houses and castles as well as the entire east coast of Jylland (Jutland).

If you have other interests you may need to tell me what they are.

Not much of natural scenery in the Copenhagen area, but if you have access to a car and don't mind driving 1.5-2 hours south you can find some interesting places:

My experience, it can take some time to get reply from the insurance company, a little correction ...

"your drone must after that date be insured against damage to another person's property for 750,000 Danish kroner."

That was also how i read it until i began looking into the hearings about the new law buildup, please re-read, it say "0,75 mio. SDR" about 7 million Dkr. .... :-/

Night flights are allowed in the latest release of rules for flying outside of bult-up areas. droneregler.dk new rules available in english too. IMPORTANT - one has to pass an exam and register as a drone owner  and have insurance in order to be able to fly as a hobbyist. It is all on the link provided here.

As mentioned in above post, there's an entrance to new drone regulations active from 1st of July on :

http://www.droneregler.dk/

Unfortunately the frontpage is in Danish, and the links to English subpages (inserted into the danish text:-/) often points to wrongly configured webpages (starting downloads when I follow them in Firefox). Yes, it looks very amateurish :-( ...

But in short, you should register your drone and take a little online test.

The new rules has only just been activated, and the pages which you are now required to register on and take a little test on, was also only first published on July 1st (or at least a few days before it wasn't yet active). I haven't done the registration and test yet myself (should be 10 easy questions I'm told). I definitely plan to, but I assume they are relaxed about the new rules in the beginning (I mean, they have to be since test and registration wasn't available beforehand).

Somebody should probably also tell them the English pages doesn't work well.
Oh, and to be honest I don't know if there are exception for short time visitors/tourists, but I would assume not. Haven't studied new rules in much details yet.

Sorry this was a "fluffy answer" to your question. Maybe somebody else can answer it in more concrete details? :-)

There's no problems traveling with a drone as long as rules in general are followed (Keep batteries safe etc).

No, I have not passed the new test because I have my permission for a "drone" flight from another place.

Do not know what happened to your test but you must have been sent an "dronebevis" by email when you have passed. You must have a copy of your "dronebevis" with you when you are in the air.

The blue areas show you can not fly within the marking. The areas they show are police stations, prisons, transformer stations, refugee camps, military squares and sports stations. Hope I not have forgotten something ?

The orange / yellow bars mark the millitarian practice areas that you must fly in when the millitarian does not use them. Looking at the map from the morning you will see some of them filled with yellow and red shavings. The yellow shavings show that there will be flight restrictions later in the day. Left click on the area shows the time of the restriction in UTC time. If there are red shavings, the area at this moment is used by the millitarian and you are grounded until the red disappears again. Here are the same areas on a list instead: http://www.flv.dk/milais/navwarframe.html

Remember your vessel must be insured according to the rules before you can take off !!!

Fly safe !!!  Regards Leif.

To fly in Denmark

You need to register and insure anything over 250 gram, then if you want to fly any where in ‘greater Cph’ you’ll also need to do a local commercial cert course @ a cost of around 6000 kr. Then notify authorities 24 hrs before any flight any where deemed ‘urban’.
If you want to do casual flights you’ll still need the registration (online test 15 kroner) and to display your reg number and personals on the drone, but still making sure you’re a long way from any kind of human habitation areas.
As far as I can tell it’s basically a non commercial ban on most of Zealand/Cph.

“Built-up area shall mean an area which is essentially used for habitation, commercial or recreational
purposes, e.g. sports halls, summer cottage areas, inhabited camping sites and built-up industrial and harbor areas. Parks, beaches or other recreational areas situated within, integrated with or in immediate connection with built-up areas are also considered as built-up areas as such areas typi- cally are situated at a short distance to crowded roads and buildings and are frequented by many people.”

It is nice with the list of some of the rules but how about adding some links like done in the bottom of this post?

Who came up with this website: http://dronebevis.dk/english/ ?
It's the first thing that I found using Google and as a person not from Denmark I would guess it's correct. It states the rules as posted in the very first post in this topic. Says nothing about registration and insurance for flying in the country side. So that's only making it more confusing.
There's also http://www.trafikstyrelsen.dk/da/droneregler which doesn't look like a professional government website, especially because they link to the rules in English on some model aircraft club's website which is not the government.

I am now confused.

It is even more simple to get at the official site, just go to http://droneregler.dk and it will re-direct to the right site.

One thing to notice, if living in Denmark and/or having legitimation issued in Denmark, you better also be speaking Danish or you would have issues filling the forms for Drone registration etc. i have had a lot of fun with that.

If you look further on the approved Drone certificate schools you'll find much wrong and outdated information that could cause people to fly where they shouldn't be, on the other side it may also have its advantages ...

Yes you need a liability insurance that cover damage for 0,75 million SDR (~7 million DKr).
I just called my insurance company last year, they didn't know about the new rules but returned after a few days that i was covered by the insurances i already had as it was a drone not used for business.

So try the same.

I'm a little bit confused, too. I registered and took the test and have everything set by now but one thing hasn't been explained in all the documents (or I didn't see them)

Are the green areas on the map, the "sensitive fauna" areas, NFZs? If so can safely be assumed that any colorized area on the map is a NFZ or temporary NFZ?

thanks!
(Going on vacation to Denmark somewhere around Sept. 24 )

EDIT: oh, well... a second read revealed the rule:
Frm Page 5, #13:
Flights with drones over particular environmentally sensitive areas at levels below 300 meters above terrain must only be operated in connection with the performance of necessary tasks in connection with supervision and maintenance etc. of installations, properties, forestry, agriculture, animal farming and the like unless permission has been obtained from the Danish Transport, Construction and Housing Authority.

Sooo since we're not allowed to fly higher than 100 meters this means no

Hi all!

So I've got a business trip to Copenhagen this week. I've got myself registered as a drone pilot in Denmark, paid to register my Mavic Air and I have £5M of public liability insurance, so I am legally good to go.

However it's unlikely I'll have time to get out of the city. Is there anywhere that Danish pilots know of that's reasonably easy to get to where I could do a flight?

The sports complex Kløvermarkens Idrætsanlæg looks to meet the 150m from busy roads/built up areas, if it is empty and nobody is playing! But is there anywhere? Not sure if I should take my drone or not.

If anyone knows of places I can definitely go, I will! Thanks
