Is there a GPS unit in the controller and the Mavic or just the Mavic? I mean somehow it knows where each part is so Im assuming the RC and Mavic both have one. Or does the RC use the GPS on our phone?

Do we need the GPS on our phone on or no? I would think the maps needs GPS but maybe it uses it from the RC.

Any help here?

The Mavic has it's own GPS, so does your phone.

There is to my knowledge only GPS in Mavic and not the RC. Mavic continuously sends its position to RC by telemetry. RC subsequently transmits the location to your phone when you see where Mavic is on a map.

What abut when you set home position to where u or the rc are standing at. If your phone GPS is off then it wouldn't work. I haven't tried that yet.

Has never tried and move home position. It can as I know only be made from APP so there will the phone GPS probably used.

Normally the home position set to the place where you takeoff. Therefore, you must wait until the vessel can see a certain number of satellites before .......

You must experiment, but be careful it does not end in a crash of your Mavic.
