Curious if anyone ever brought their Mavic on a cruise ship, to fly when it's parked in another land during their vacation trip?

I doubt the cruise ship would let you do it, but it would be worth calling and asking. Best bet is to launch it from shore and get the vids

I would think a ship that large would be a compass killer.  That plus you don't know what else they are transmitting.  Also radar can be pretty powerful even though on a different frequency.  A port in general is an RF nightmare.  You would l also need to check with local laws if flying over land.  A lot of ports are also protected by law enforcement like the the USCG in the U.S.  Harbors in the U.S. are protected.

You need to check with the ship, or sneak it on , I have heard of it being taken off people at beginning of trip and not returned until end of trip, it also might be worth checking out each countries regulations on drone flying.

I just went thru this as some of those stops would be the BEST for drone video.

All major cruise lines - Drones are not allowed on board.  Many (most) cruise ships go thru your luggage to make sure you are not bringing on contraband.  If they find your drone it will be removed.

If you do sneek it in and then take it on an excursion,  they won't let it back on board when you check back in.

Carnival Cruise does allow it.  They can only be used in port.

What I see on that link for Carnival exceptions is Drone cameras. Did I miss something? Does it say Drones as well?

This guy on YouTube had no problems with wireless interference or the metal throwing off the compass on his drive at the distance he kept from the ship.

I'm assuming if they allow you to talk golf clubs and Segways.  A drone for excursion pleasure isn't a stretch.

Then why don't they say there is an exception for drones rather than say "Done cameras"?

Why would someone bring just a drone camera onboard and not a drone? The average layman who wrote those guidelines wouldn't think to specify "drone camera" from "drone".
