Flying over Bardon Hill Quarry, West of Leicester in the UK shows its vast scale and magnitude. This quarry has been running for centuries and is thought to have helped build the UK roadmap we know today. This video was filmed on two batteries with 45 minutes of footage. The drone used was the DJI Phantom 4, with the colour setting on vivid. This is 1080p 60fps.
Huge chunks of granite are mined from deposits in the earth for the specific purpose of producing granite slabs. Chunks are either cut out of granite deposits or blasted out using explosives. These deposits usually store granite which is used for buildings, bridges, paving, floors and other common uses.
I had permission to fly over this site, however I was careful at all times to ensure I was flying safely. Most of the footage in this video was shot in Pilot Mode.
Nice work and a fair size of a hole in the ground. I am currently filming the start of a small quarry at work from the hillside to the eventual hole left behind. Blasting next week and hope to capture that as well.
I like your video. No, I love your video. I wish that I had shot it. What I don't like is hyperbole like the kind where you describe your own video as "amazing." Just one of my pet peeves.

I enjoyed your video too. I also take shots where my take launch point is much higher than what I am filming.
I haven't shot in Vivid mode yet my try that when flying with the sun behind me.
Nice work, I used to be based at the industrial estate just round the back of the quarry, always wondered what it looked like - no google maps in the 90's though. I do like the video quality - must give vivid a try - sunny day a must, so that might be a while.

No it is not. He is not flying up to 3,000 Metres, he starts off almost that high. And apart from that, he is in Taiwan.

Suddenly occurred to me Blackcrusader, how do you reckon you'd go on the flat
Nice bit of kit as usual and interesting places you have too.
I am heading off to Cebu Philippines 02 June so will do some droning at sea level for a change.
However my last flight I stayed under the clouds near my home after some rains. Went high enough just to wash the dirt of my props Wanted to fly today and yesterday but strong winds up my my mountains.
Rain, what's rain? Been >6 weeks since we saw any of that 'wet' stuff.
Willing to bet you start at sea level but the old tug will see you up the hills.
