I purchased a Black Magic 2700MAH spare battery for my Phantom 1 - when I put it in the Phantom I get 3 flashing red lights. I can toggle the GPS switch to get the orange light on and do the Nazza dance but then the red flashing lights return, no response from the phantom. If I then swap out to my standard 2200mah battery - everything works fine. The 2700MAH battery is fully charged (according to the charger)

What type of charger are you using on the battery? Do you have a voltmeter where you can get a reading on the voltage of each of the cells.

I always suggest (and buy myself) he DJI stock batteries.....

Did you manage to sort this? I'm waiting on a Black Magic battery myself for my P1. Have you tried adjusting the settings on the NAZA?
