The DJI store sells Phantom 4 batteries for $169. Newegg has the DJI brand for as low as $129.  Is there any reason not to buy the cheaper batteries from Newegg? I bought my drone from them and got it in a couple of days, compared to the long waits others have had buying directly from DJI.

Also, has anyone had experience with third party batteries?

There are 2 original DJI battery models, which work with P4 and P4P: CP.PT.000342 and CP.PT.000601, with the capacities of 5350mAh and 5870mAh respectively, which means about 10 mins longer flight time on the latter. The one you saw for $119 is for Phantom 3 I guess. I can't see any battery for P4 for this price, sorry.

newegg is an authorized retailer so you're covered by dji warranty.

Don't buy them. The aircraft will not start because it recognises they are not DJI batteries.

Thanks, I didn't realize that. I would definitely rather pay more for the extended flight time.

10% extra capacity won't get anything like 10 minutes of additional flight time.
You are looking at approx 2 minutes extra.

That's a lot extra to pay for only 2 minutes more flight time.

If u pay $1000 for a drone, do u really want to save $30 on a battery? Non DJI r certainly "questionable"... not worth the risk...  unless of course u assume accidents will happen anyhow, and are ok with fixing or replacing...  I HATE crashes.. did enough before I got something as expensive as DJI....

We do suggest you to buy the intelligent battery from DJI online store or DJI authorized dealer.
Since we cannot guarantee the performance for the battery coming from other channels, as mentioned above, the drone will not takeoff if it's non DJI official intelligent battery.

The batteries are all good and working fine. Both are DJI OEM models. I've been using stock (for 5870 and 5350) and didn't notice any major difference neither in flight time, neither in charging time. There's really no reason to buy "a bit better one" for a 50% bigger price. Unless you have special case with limited space and can't compromise, then you should go for it of course.
