Hi,

I've been using a Ipad 1 (2012) with my Phantom 4 for a while now and obviously it's not much use any more due to it freezing up etc, and is not able to install the latest DJI GO 4 app.

So I'm thinking of buying the Ipad Mini 2 WI -FI only, for the job.

I don't want to splash out and then find out it has issues with the new DJI GO 4 app. I know it's on the list of recommended devices (but seemingly only DJI GO), so can I please have some ressurance that there are no issues with this tablet and it runs DGI GO 4 fine?

I use the ipad mini 2 wifi and cellular with my P4 and the P4 go app and have had no problems with it at all ,I was using an android device before the ipad mini 2 and had some freezing and video glitches but nothing with this ipad mini2

I suggest the MINI4. More and more new drones require more processing power..

I'm with Dronist, I'd advise the Mini 4. The Mini 2 is getting pretty long in the tooth from a technology standpoint, and if buying now I'd be looking a bit newer up the technology ladder.

I use iPad mini 4, this has the same basic chip set as the iPhone 6, which has plenty of processing power for this app. It also depends on your budget.

My ipad mini 2 wifi and cellular bought second hand but it was a brand new one included with phone upgrade cost me £150 on gumtree ,a quarter of the price of a mini 4 and works flawlessly with my P4 and DJI GO 4
As mentioned budget also comes into the equation

I notice the mini 4 is not on the list of recommended devices.

P4 and mini2 here. Not a single glitch so far

Thanks for all the comments I think I might be leaning towards the Mini 4, it's means paying more money but I think it will pay off in the long run.

I would recommend the iPad Mini 4 as well. The iPad Mini 2 seems to have trouble keep up sometimes with the required processing power.

iPad Mini 2 and P4 here. No problem.

iPad mini 4 & P4P, works like a charm.

iPad mini 2 on P4 performed well with DJI GO v2.9 and still does with DJI GO 4. Also I really don't need a bigger screen, which is only making things heavier.
But as drones and apps are developing on a daily basis, they most likely become hungry for performance. Therefore like mentioned before, I would go for a mini 4, as it has the better CPU. The iPad mini 3 has the same processor like the 2, so only costs more money for same performance.

IPad mini 2 and iPhone 5s has lost hardware decoding button after latest June update and they have started lagging in all products including mavic pro. Any solution do let me know.

Just updated my Mini2 to newest go app V 3.1.14. It no longer works. I get a partial green screen and the message" Mobile device fully loaded" I hope DJI will fix this. Hate to have to buy a different devise. ( I tried using my Iphone7plus with no problem)

I don't think DJI will fix your Mini2 issues.  
I would sell it and then put the little extra money towards a second hand mini4, you wont be disappointed and you will be future proofed for a little while again.

Just be aware I never had any problems with my IPad 4 mini but do now with the new update of the  Go 4 app along with the recent IOS update .  The problem is the map section every now and again goes blank and the only  I can get the map up is to reinstall the GO 4 app.
