Aloha fans3e,
Good choices all around. Now, let us solve this problem. First no product is broken. BTW, you did not mention what Phantom you are flying.
This problem happens when the video transmission system gets stressed. You are using one of the best Android devices available, so your problem is not the device or products, it is in the settings. If this is occurring while the HD options are set to Auto, then you might want to consider reinstalling the firmware and possibly uninstalling and reinstalling the DJI GO 4 app. Be sure to restart between the uninstall and the install. The firmware can be refreshed using DJI Assistant 2 if you have a P4. If you have a P3P or a P3A, you should be using the DJI GO app, not the DJI GO 4 app.
This problem goes all the way back to the P3 Advanced and Pro. The color banding is the same color banding you will see on your home TV occasionally (if it is an HD TV). A good way to define your problem is to go into HD mode and look to see if it is set to "Auto". Auto will be in Blue. If it is not in blue, tap on Auto and restart the system and see if it improves.
If you still have a problem, tap on "Custom". If you are using 2.4GHz, you will see 8 channels to choose from. Look for the strongest and most stable signal, then enter the channel into the selection. Be sure to set the "Bitrate" down at least one notch. With P3Ps you set it all the way down to 4 Mbps, but the P4s only go down to 6 Mbps. These settings only apply to the Live Feed option. These changes should get rid of the color banding. But the fact that you had to make these changes means something, so please report back to us.
Hope this helps!
