I have been flying with Apple iphone 6s with no problem. I recently purchased an Andriod tablet. Many times I have had difficulity connecting the tablet. Is there a problem with switching back and forth?

There should be no problem switching devices, what is the android device you have now? is it powerful enough to handle the processing of the app?

It's Android 6.0. I think its the latestI've flown with it before with no problems. It's just many times it won't connect. I have to try over and over again.

Right, so not a Samsung tablet but a ZTE Trek 2 HD. So now that we have established that, what is the specific problem that you are having connecting to the Phantom.
Describe your connection sequence and where/how the process fails.

I follow the same sequence as with the Apple . I turn on the controller, I turn on the a/c I connect to the Phantom WiFi but when i go to the app the tablet says not connected.

Ok, Did you enter the Phantom wifi password when prompted?

It doesn't ask for a password. It just connects. I entered the password when I first connected.

Where is the disconnect warning you are seeing, in the DJI GO app?

It is in the area that usually says ready to fly and there is no camera view. .  It doesn't do it every time though, every now and then it connects as it should and the drone flys as it should. It is just frustrating. Never had this problem with the iphone so it's not the drone.

Okay, next time you go to connect, try holding the tablet away from the controller while you connect to the Phantom's Wifi. I don't know what it is with tablets that causes this but if I connect my tablet(android) away from the controller (3-6ft) I get a solid connection every time. With my phone(also android) it doesn't seem to matter as much.

Is the phone in your pocket - because if it is it's likely grabbing the wifi before the android device can.

Are you confusing the "Cannot connect to Internet" message that drops down from the "Ready to Fly" box when WiFi is connected ?

If that is the message - then ignore it ...

I was able to connect this morning using gbmarsh's idea of moving away from the controller. But then it said there was a poor signal from controller. It was only about 10 feet away from the drone.
I'm beginning to feel that Android is not as stable as the Apple operating system. It seems that most of the problems on the forum are from people using Android.

It isn't a supported tablet, not that many are, and taking a quick look at reviews it's described as a low power tablet but OK for $150 so it may not be up to it

The problem is there are so many varieties of Android devices that firmware developers can't account for all the subtle differences in hardware and variations in the version of Android each manufacturer uses. The thing is, when you find a really good Android device the appeal of Apple's locked down simplicity kind of pales.

Gbmarsh hit the spot - Google allowed development of android by 3rd parties and that has led to some awful versions. Not only that but it was always designed to operate on a wide range of platforms in terms of resources. Quite a lot of these are just inadequate for our use.
But get a well spec'd unit and they work really nice.

I paid about $150 for a refurb Nexus 7 vers 2 .... one of the top recc'd units for the Phantom ..... it works very nicely. I see no reason to even think about iOS or any other.

Just because I don't believe it's been asked yet. but have you tried 'forgetting' the Phantom's WiFi network on the Android, refresh the WiFi list, and then reconnect?

Absolutely ... how many times do we have to do that on PC's as well !!

Generally stable - but when it decides to not co-operate ... yep !!

Also the camera view is different. The one on the left is IOS and the one on the right (or top) is Android. (at least on my device)

Nigel, I'm looking at a Samsung Tab A T580 with Android 6.0 (Marshmellow). Do you have any opinion on it for flying my P3S?
