Many of you might scream "recklessness" but for whatever reason I have been slowly training to fly lower and lower, close to the water...... and the sensation I have while doing it are just super exciting. I do not have death wish for my beloved Mavic and many might find it stupid but again I take a huge pleasure out of it....for now.I apologized for the low quality editing as the compression is too high forst start (but I was on someonesle laptop)  but in my opinion the first 10 sec and the last 15 sec (my speed record at 70 km/h) are still interesting shots....

FYI One thing that I have learned is that you have to be carefull (obiviously), especially in sports mode, because the height at which you start when the drone hovers is not the same as in full speed in sprots mode, because as the drone incline forward to gain speed it will create a downward presure on the drone resulting in the drone lowering maybe 10-30 cm, which is nothing when flying 20-30 meters high, but when you start at 1.6m above water, those precious scm will make the difference between a lost drone and a cool footage (I think it's cool).

Pretty cool video! You have lots of courage to do so so you need all the luck you can get!

Looks cool but it's going too fast imo, smoother slower shots will still do the job.

I like the sense of speed given by the fact you fly low over water! Nice job!

I see you are enjoying yourself... have fun... but don't forget to attach buoyancy aid just incase. If I were you I would attach both gettterback and waterbuoy to be on the safe side. Also keep a degreaser contact spray (putting in rice can only help in sweet water cases) to wash the salt water of if you can retrieve your mavic.

Are you turning off the downward  VP sensors when flying low over the Water? I keep hearing different suggestions on this. Cool video!

I like to do the same, the thing that scares me is as your flying away, close to the water at high speed it always looks like the mavic is descending.

Love it!  Great sensation of speed.  Also wondering if you turned off VPS.
I keep getting two opinions on that.  I wonder if VPS is good over water that is not clear?  I plan on doing a lot of low flying at wake surf and wakeboard speeds.

Wow! I am not as brave as you! I also noticed how it slowly descends in sport mode when I was flying over the lake by my house. But like I said I'm not as brave as you so I was flying at about 15 feet above the water.

On Mavic's user manual flying over water is not recomended while;
- tap to fly                                page:18
- active track                            page:20
- forward vision system         page:25
- downward vision system    page:25
- general flight                         page:48
so you decide yourselves...

Everybody has a different sense of risk I suppose. Me personally don't mind if my 100 dollar worth (as much as a mavic battery   )  QAV 250  (it is a racing quad) dissapears in the sea but I will not feel as careless if same happens to my mavic...

The speed and low altitude definitely gives it a very cool perspective. Well done! I'll have to try that once I get more flight time.

yes the VPS works and actually if on when moving fast forward, the drone will tilt also forward, so much so that the drone believes the water is ahead and therefore stops automoically the drone ..so that's why I fly in sport mode beccause it de-acticates the sensors and a to be honest it's also more fun

yes that's right the faster you go it will loose a bit of height, i'd say 20-50 cm...but if you are low it makes a difference

yes, if you don't de-activate the sensors the drone will automicatlly slow downif close to the water because of the titl of the drone

Thanks. This was my very first drone video. The editing was a bit rushed. I will revise it when I have a chance.
