Today I had my longest flight yet, and in super RF congested Los Angeles no less!  I still had a strong signal and I could have gone further but was afraid I might not have enough power to get back.  No boosters or modifications.  I think it has a lot to do with the location I was and the area around the P4 because you will note that it is over mostly unpopulated land.  Not much Wi-Fi interference over a cemetery!

Good job Jim, I could imagine it could be challenging to be able to fly that distance in the LA  area!

nice. Try going out to the sticks! I flew my p4 from my lake house to the far end of the lake last friday. 1.5 miles. I was nervous but had full signal the whole time. Very powerful feeling

May I know how much battery you have left after landing? On peak point I see You had only 43% ! Thats a quite low as for 5600ft distance.

Landed with 25% power remaining.

I did 2.2 Miles today! My best trip ever...I've only had the P4 three weeks or so..

Not over LA I should add. It was very rural,  15 miles West of SE London (UK) A few cell phone towers, villages and stuff.

The one thing I really liked was I never lost a Bar off the HD or RC Signal at all. Not for a split second that I could see and I was watching closely!  
I only turned around because I wanted to be sure I would get home and safe. Got back with 38% or so.

I should have gone for 3.0 !!!

It's amazing how much a built up area can knock those numbers down!

I had only 25% power When I got back but that's because I had already done some flying before testing distance.

Based on my experience and observations, it doesn't matter so much what interference sources are between you and the aircraft as it does matter what interferences sources are near the controller and what interference sources are near the aircraft.  In other words, if the remote controller is in a location with minimal Wi-Fi interference nearby and the quad is over an area with minimal Wi-Fi interference sources, it doesn't matter much if there are lots of interference sources in between you and the quad so long as both you and the quad are in relatively quiet areas.  It's only if the interference is relatively close to the quad or the remote that it seems to reduce the range.  Hope that makes sense.

I'll have to test out the range once I get my P4P ordered. I currently fly a P3S & only perform shorter flights right now so that I control the drone.
I live in Indiana which is very flat & rural in many areas.
