Osmo+ activation & limp gimbal

I've just bought an Osmo+ and it's currently junk!!!!!

Apparently you have to do this activation thing to make the gimbal work (otherwise it just sits limp).
When I load DJI GO (which was working fine with my Phantom 3) after connecting to the Osmo, it goes to a white screen and occasionally flashes us a screen for a fraction of a second.
I proded until the screen seemed to change, it eventually got to what looked like the activation but there was no where to go because it said something about wifi and needing internet. I had a full 4g cell signal so I don't know what it was trying to do. I connected back to wifi for internet, but of course that measn DJI GO disconnects and I can't activate.

Why can't DJI just make something that simply works when you switch it on?

Sorted now. Eventually got it working using tablet, but a real long-winded affair swapping wifi back and forth.
