Hi,
I have a special question which probably only Dji can answer.
What data from the Mavic flow into the stabilization of the gimbal?
Is that only the IMU or also values from the compass? I have the feeling that the compass also plays an important role for the horizon of the camera.

So, is the horizon only "controlled" by the IMU or also by some information from the compass?
Dji? Can you give me an information?

Thank You!

Honestly just an opinion but it wouldnt make sense for the gimbal to rely on the compass... as far as I understand it. What makes you think it needs compass info? (Not arguing a point, just trying to dig more into what you mean.)

Well I would like to know it too. Because if the compas is also involved to the gimbal positioning then it could make a difference. That means to get rid of a tilt horizon it's not only calibrating the imu and gimbal but also the compass.

The gimbal has its own controller board separate from the IMU and compass. Assuming that the gimbal works like every other gimbal there is a gyroscope mounted on the camera and the controller board uses PID values and complicated math to hold it steady in place. The moment it detects that the camera is moving off course it corrects it, moving it back into position. Happens 1000's of times a second.

Some gimbals still use compass values.
The BCG gimbal uses both compass and IMU data.

Only a DJI tech can provide you the answers.

Exactly, and because that some gimbals use the compass i would like to know whether the Mavic use the compass data also in any way for the gimbal.

Maybe dji can give a short statement? I am not interrested  how exactly it works, i just want to know which data is used for the gimbal to be stable.

Say it doesn't. Think Anthony mistook the gyro for compass in that video. Uses IMU values. To get a good imu calibration though, I have to put mine in the fridge for half hour and then during the calibration, the first position will take awhile as it warms up, but it finishes before the ac fan comes on. Can get both values on acc to 0
