I tried an android but keep crashing...switched to a mini 4 and have not had a single issue...also, its the biggest device that will fit into the controller

I did the "Fly More" Mavic deal but wasn't clear if it came with 1 or 2 Extra batteries so I purchased a spare battery when I placed my order. So, I ended up with 4 batteries and I am happy with the setup. So far, I have made 90 flights, 11hrs 52 min and always have a freshly charged battery at my disposal.

High FlyerCokie,  I know I have gone about 10 flights on mine before I recharged it.  I'm sure I could have done more but at that point I'm charging my battery's anyway so I just stick the remote on there.  Better to have it charged up rather then it dying in mid flight.

I have 4 as this is how many the charger accommodates, however I use the Mavic as a toy. If I needed a reliable camera for serious videography I think 8 would be about right

I mean, the drone is fast : so if you have a photo/film project you can quickly get the needed data

I know. Marketing at its best. This way they tend to sell a few more batteries. It's a bit of a scam. Saves them money from having to install a bigger transformer in the charger too. However, I find it works for me. I have 4 batteries, and charge them the night before I fly, then after flying 4 batteries, I'm usually done for the day.

What phone are you using?

I use a iPhone 6 for the Mavic and it lasts for 5 Batterys but mostly I fly only on bright sunny days so I don't dimm my phone down. I also have a new iPhone 7 but that I use as a hotspot and Live streaming with Periscope. And I tried also the 7 and it last not longer than the 6.

Interesting... I gotta say,  I was under the impression that the charging dock would charge up to 4 batteries simultaneously as well.

I have two and the quick charge solution (advanced charging dock and P4 100W charger). Charges both batteries in 1h10min.
So far so good, will add more before the holidays as batteries loose capacity over time.
Very happy so far.

You might want to use the slower charger most days unless you need the speed.  Charging slower will give you more charging cycles on a particular battery.  Charging faster generates more heat and your battery life will suffer over time.  Most damage will be done during the 80% to 100% range.  Fast charging in the middle (20% to 80%) will not do much damage, if any.

Actually i would not say that is relevant as the charger uses the 100W capability only for charging multiple batteries at once. So you will not have much higher output in a specific battery.

I've got five, but will be getting rid of one soon.  Four is a good number.  As much as I would like to say I need five to fly constantly and still allow for cooling and charging, there is no way I, personally, will be doing that much flying.  Four may be overkill, but I can at least keep up with cycling and charging.

I have 5 batteries now and typically have at least 3 charged ready to go and then the other 2 charging while I am flying. I usually fly at least 3 batteries each time I go out so I think 4 would have been fine but it is always nice to have more than less.

OK, question for all you 4 / 5 battery users - how well does the RC last? Mine seems to drop quite quick just flying one or two batteries worth...

Good info.  I have a p3s that I bought 3 batteries for and I use all 3 almost every time I fly and that's with significantly less range compared to Mavic.  I'm expecting my fly more package next week and now I'm thinking I'll spring for a 4th battery.

My HPRC case fits 5 batteries so i added an extra 2 batteries to my fly more combo to fill the space, I tend to use all 5 and thought about getting a 6th but my RC is usually at about 10% and or beeping by the end of the 5th battery.

Yes, look'n good.  I have 4 battery's and when I fly...I fly them all.  I suppose if I had a 5th one, I would fly that one as well.

Once you use the first one, put it on the charger and keep rotating.  There is a sweet spot and I don't know what it is with the Mavic but with my multi-charger on the P4, it was 4.  I could fly continuously.

ArtistFirst, you gotta be careful with charging the battery's right after flight.  Let them cool are battery damage could occur.
