I use a 2016 13" MacBook Pro w/Touch Bar connected to an LG 4K USB-C display. I find the portability of the 13" vs. the 15" is nice when travelling.

For editing I use Final Cut Pro X 10.3.1. There are lots of YouTube tutorial videos on how to use it.

Totally. Use iMovie until you want to do something you can't quite do otherwise and then learn something else. Many of my videos are not complicated and I can even use DJI Go's built in editor for rough cuts.

I am using this: MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 4GB MEMORY and it handles 4K for me! sometimes I need to restart my computer though
It has produced these with FCPX

I'm using a mid 2015 MacBook Pro with the i7 processor and dedicated graphics card. Mostly for photo editing in Lightroom. But it's also a great machine for video editing which I do with Final Cut Pro X.
If you plan on simply using iMovie any Mac(Book) will be good enough, but if you want to edit your 4K material, don't want to wait too long to render, and maybe want to upgrade your software to Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro X you'll be better off with a MacBook Pro. Both 13" and 15" will be great for the job.

If you want to go serious with video editing I'd take the 15" version with i7 over the i5 processor, because the i7 allows multi-threading which is good when working with video (so I read once). The 2015 model will do the job just fine, but if you don't mind some adapters to plug in your non-USB-C stuff (like external hard drive with "regular" USB) or an adapter to plug in an SD-card, or an adapter to plug in an ethernet cable (if you don't wanna go wireless), or a Firewire then the 2016 model with Touch Bar is very nice, since the Touch Bar allows for very nice, better, and more control than the "old" function keys. Especially in apps like Final Cut Pro.

thanks! yeah I was a rookie also. I started with iMovie about 6 months ago and was always scared to get into FCPX! but I love it. Gives you way more control of colour editing and graphs to show where you should be at.

Awesome, if I do have to get an adapter, is there different specs for them? Or does it even matter as long as the SD card is correct? I've heard I should get a UHC-3, class 10 basically
