Hello I'm a noob, and have been searching on here for best SIM card as I've heard the one onboard the Mavic doesn't work the best, is this true?? And also what kind of SIM card should I purchase? Thanks

There's no SIM card in Mavic. SIM-card are for mobile network connections.
But you are thinking about a Micro SD memorycard?
Specs says: "Max capacity: 64 GB. Class 10 or UHS-1 rating required".

A good reasonably priced 64GB SanDisk could be this one. I would think it is fast enough for Mavic's 4K recording: http://amzn.to/2nt5yng

Myself, I have this one. A step faster and definetely recommended. But also more expensive: http://amzn.to/2nGJGpi . If you want me to "guarantee" it's fast enough, take this :-)

First of all, it isn't called a SIM card. It is called a Micro SD card.
Many believe that the best companies are SanDisk and Lexar. You will need a Micro SD Card that is in a UHS 3 class and class 10. SanDisk Extreme (or Extreme Plus/Extreme Pro) does the work perfectly. So does Lexar 1800x.
Just look it up.

Hope I've helped,

The card you gave will be good only for 1080p (HD) but not good enough for 4K. It needs to be at least UHS 3. Dji say UHS 1 because they supply a UHS 1 card. It really is best with a UHS 3 card for 4K.

You might be right. I have a UHS 3 card myself which I also quickly updated my original answer to clarify. But UHS 1 cards are also different, and I was guessing the mentioned one probably would be ok.

I think it is some new videospeed rating SanDisk has "invented". They some times print it of their cards or packaging. I think it is roughly the same as UHS 3 (if not the same?)

Just found this:
https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/choices/speed_class/index.html
So not just something SanDisk has invented.
I think you only find it printed on newer cards or packaging. So just because it is not mentioned, does not mean it doesn't comply.
Also Mavic's max 30fps 4K video with a bit rate of 60 Mbps, is not the world's most demanding 4K footage.

This Lexar does a max 150mbpe which is near sad levels. You'll never miss a frame with this bad boy.

Be aware most speeds advertised are the read speeds, not the write speed. Ideally you want a micro-SD that writes faster than 60Mbs. I know Sony and Samsung Pro Plus will do that.

Link not working and can't edit on phone. Terrible web mobile site here. Search Lexar 1000x on google. It's not usually on Amazon. I got mine from Andromeda. It's a top speed of 159mbps which I use for all my 4K systems including my Sony A7 mk2. It's a bad mama jama. Also whoever said the Lexar 633x they usually send you is too slow for 4K at 60mbps is just wrong. It's not ideal but the one I just offered is the first level 2 I've seen. It can write at 250mbps, near 30M a second! That's truly low ssd levels!

Extreme pro 64 gb , or smaller 16gb if you get a bigger card you will spend all your time looking for stuff.

Something practical about the video - the max bitrate you can have on the Mavic is advertised as 60Mbps. I don't have any footage with 4K at hand but the 2.7K footage takes up roughly 45Mpbs.

Now the lecture part ;-) 60Mbps means 7.5MBps. Megabit as opposed to megabyte. 1 byte is 8 bits, that's why.  So the actual data throughput will be max 7.5 megabytes per second and so a card advertised as "writing speed = 30MB/s" is more than enough for your needs.

If you'd prefer to get something better - of course why not - Sandisk Extreme would do the trick.

About the capacity - 32GB will give you roughly 70 minutes of 4K recording so I don't see any reason to get a bigger card with my 3 batteries for the Mavic. But if you get 64GB it won't hurt and more you're unlikely to need (provided you have where to download the content - I always have so not an issue).

Cheers!

UHS 3 class 10 is easy to find but the only level 2 I've found is the Lexar I've posted above. I don't know what the 2 means exactly but it's a UHS-3 class 10 level 2. You won't find faster than what I posted and if you do, please tell me.

If you must know, Sony's new SD card is at 300MB/s read, 299MB/s write. Not cheap.

Really? UHS 1 is not good enough for 4K? it seems to be handling my 4K footage ok so far

Can someone confirm that the lexar 16bg card that ships with the Mavic is ok for handling 4K footage?

Indeed, but the faster read speeds are ALWAYS accompanied by faster write speeds.

"If I must know"?

I don't know if you were taking my question wrong. It was a legitimate just question. I wasn't being snarky or anything.

That's what I used to think, but when looking I was looking, most were very asymmetrical. As an example, some sandisk ah 90 read (advertised) whereas it was 45 write.
