That's race day. It's a new series started 2 years ago. It's called Fara USA. http://www.farausa.com/

Did you need to get permission to fly this at all ?

I bought my P2+ with intent of using it on track days (for NASA events), but I totally don't know the regulations on it... I guess it would vary from group to group

The director of Fara USA gave me permission only for this event. They will be using my video for there marketing campaign.  Any major race track in the US are not permitted to use any type of UAV or Drone. You should check there website or talk to somebody before you use it. I've read of people getting kicked out for using it.
