Brought my Osmo Pro combo in Flag Ship in HK last week 3/22/2017 on a trip.  Two days later took out for a project notice the sound on the camera was very loud.  Not quiet sure is the fan or the motor.  I also have to use Flexi Microphone enable to record sound that was weird.  Then I took alot of footage and went home to see how's the recording, I notice the sound of the fan or the motor on camera has also been record it on the footage.  Which totally mess up all my footage with the narrator talking to the camera.  Contact the online help about the issue, first they say to upgrade to the lastest firmware (V1.3.40) and the sound will turn off once the recording is turn on.  NOt for me!  Then they told me to send it back to see what is the issue. Well, i live in Taiwan and there's not a DJI store here and that means I might have to send it back to US, it's kinda ridicules.  I search online and alot of people are having the same problem too but for some reason in this DJI Forum, nobody have brought up it or complain about it. Could anybody please help me.  Greatly appreciated it!

This issue has been known for as long as X5 is for sale. The fan is there to keep the camera cool as the processing unit reside there. New X4s and X5s have their processor separated from the camera and hence I assume will eliminate this issue. The only solution for X5 owner is to record sound separately from the gimbal. Go the professional route, get a zoom H1 and Robe smart lav+ to record sound separate for a much professional result.

DJI have got back to me for my issue.  Even though is their flaw on the X5 but they are not responsible for their action and they don't real care that much because it's something they can not solved.  So they told me go and buy external mic. So for you all out there,  DO NOT get X5 or X5R  because of extremely loud noisy fan sound and autofocus are inconsistent. Their customer service will not help you at all, trust me!

I've had the same problem, and it even shows up with a good shotgun mic.  In fact, it's so loud, it even shows up on my lav mic.

I've had the same problem, and it even shows up with a good shotgun mic.  In fact, it's so loud, it even shows up on my lav mic.  I took the audio into Audition and checked the spectral view, and I saw 15 frequencies that needed to be notched out.  Using the AUNBandEQ in Final Cut Pro, I was able to notch out the frequencies using the following details:

  1050 | 0.02 | -24
  2050 | 0.02 | -24
  3050 | 0.02 | -24
  4050 | 0.02 | -24
  5050 | 0.02 | -24
  6100 | 0.02 | -24
  7100 | 0.02 | -24
  8100 | 0.02 | -24
  9100 | 0.02 | -24
10100 | 0.02 | -24
11100 | 0.02 | -24
12100 | 0.02 | -24
13100 | 0.02 | -24
14100 | 0.02 | -24
14100 | 0.02 | -24

I saved those settings as a preset so I can use it again (because I use it all the time), but it is annoying to have to use it.  This is the noisiest camera I've ever used; however, I do like the camera for most things.  It's just tough to use when audio is involved.
