Firmware Bricked my Pro

Hello Everyone,

So bought me a DJI (few months back) and before even flying I went ahead and updated the firmware. After a few hours, the thing completely bricked on me. I tried to go back to where it was and did not worked. I was for several hours on hold with DJI and enever got through them. So I said screw it and went and got another one. I have been flying it (not like I would like to) because I am scared of performing the firmware and bricking it again! As anybody done the most recent update? How did it go?

DJITX, there are many threads on this forum about problems with firmware-updates Most of the time there is just a small glitch to correct and you can safely fly on. No need to "go and get an other one" every time something works not 100 % as expected. It is always advisable to get the latest firmware and install it the way it's instructed for your type of drone.

And that is what I did. I followed the instructions step-by-step and the thing still bricked. I did my research and see if I was able to find a solution but unfortunately was not able to do so! I will go ahead and do my research before upgrading the firmware because I was really mad about having a bricked 800 toy!

I have updated mine at every new firmware release and mine is not bricked.
A common error with this new firmware, is that the firmware upgrade is interrupted before it is completed. There are several times during the update that it cuts itself off and SEEMS to be done, but after a few seconds it will power itself back on and continue. It does this three or four times.
So you just pushed the bricked one to the side and bought a new one? That is a little hard to believe. It has a one year warranty through DJI and probably a thirty day return policy from a retailer.

That's what I mean - we need to understand just what you did,  - as HWCM says

I notice during the last update to 1.10.9 near the end it goes "dark", no flashing main led's, camera gimbal goes limp, the da,da,da, stops its totally quiet - but the only sign its NOT finished is the tiny led in the front of the gimbal control board housing its still flashing so its not done. 3-4 mins it spring back to life and the gimbal led now shows a solid GREEN- Its done the whole thing prob took 20mins maybe longer.
I have also done all the updates with mine as they came out and have not had any issues.

i update every time, never had an issue. Please defined "bricked"...  Considering what happened, dji did not offer to have it sent for evaluation? Is it over a year old?
Did u retry the update with a freshly formatted sd, with nothing but the .bin file on it?

It would be helpful what you mean by "bricked". Does the RC power up, but not want to connect to the aircraft? Does it seem to link, but can't get a video feed? Does the update ever say "successful", or have an error message of some sort? Please elaborate what the issue is and exactly what you've already tried so that we can see if whatever issue you're experiencing can be fixed remotely. Please also verify what firmware version you have exactly on both the RC and aircraft, along with the mobile device and Go app version that was used.

I'm reading as many posts as I can....  I don't think mine "Bricked" after the upgrade... but clearly the video signal is so weak it's not working... the screen turns green....or black.  The top of the DJI Go 4 app reads No Signal or something to do with Opti Vision.    I've reinstalled the update twice, connected the remote controller dozens of times....  The closest I've come was by holding the C1-C2 and record button.... they beeped forever... I gave up and pressed the reset button on the drone.   A live video feed popped up (for the first time in 4 hours) but it was fleeting.   Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.    Leaving in the morning for 2 days in the mountains..(without my bird...I think) ..sigh.

What type of Phantom and what revision firmware are you running?

ALWAYS the same !! 15 00 device not detected   08 00  device not detected.
And DJI says about a "hardware failure" HAHAHAH...
IT 's not true.. ..
BE carefull, if you upgrade and miss an intermeditate version.. you're clearly .... and after.. DJI send you 271$ to repair.. I mean DJI dont advise people about you need to upgrade by passing on every version.. For ME  I never buy somthing from DJI !  NEVER!!!

And I have a simple question for DJI.. Why ? you dont check the current fw version BEFORE applying the new one ??? for easy money ? .. And of course.. you cannot downgrade.. It would be too easy...
I pretty hangry. and It's normal.
