Simple question: if my Phantom 2 were to rebel against me due to a compass/GPS/baro malfunction, could I reign it back in by switching to manual mode in a timely manner? To my understanding, manual mode only requires a functioning 3 axis gyro and link to the controller.

In all of the flyaway horror stories I've read, none of them attempted to regain control via an alternate flight mode. Is this simply user error or will it not help the situation?
