Awesome!  Amazing to watch the subtle movements the bird makes and the flight response.

It is really fascinating video.
The hawk had shown no interest at all. Perhaps it though that it is no worth to bother with such an awkward thing like the drone is (according to the hawk's flying skills).
But the one thing it was not mentioned here and we should care about it is, that the hawk is in danger in such situation, not the drone! Of course the drone might fall down in case of collision, but the hawk might be killed (propellers a pretty sharp).

More likely it was thinking, "I wonder if it's edible."

I will be filming on a ridge with lots of hawks around soon. Glad to see this footage!

Be careful; most birds tend to be fearful of drones, but I've seen a few accounts -- some including video -- where hawks acted very aggressively and even physically attacked. And I've definitely noticed a tendency of birds in general to be a little more bold in the spring, maybe because they're protecting a nest.

Right, I will have to check these birds out and  possibly stay only in certain areas if that would even be possible. This area is a housing development on one side and virtual wilderness on the other. These birds will show great interest in small dogs, so they are the hunting type. They own the skies I am sure, I would be a guest. But they keep the rabbit, chipmunk, squirrel population under control.

I had this happen when I was flying my Phantom 2.   I was flying and out of nowhere a hawk came by and tried to take out my Phantom!

Many a Hawk exist in the valley and the population base is not in danger.  Send it! All was good. Hawk sent me good fortune.

There is a nice piece of change there if you get it to the right add agency or a nature outfit.  But I want to say thank you for one of the sights of a lifetime.  I think the main reason the bird didn't show any interest was because you didn't panic and start moving all around, you just hovered and watched while he joined you in riding the wind, I saw two Condors riding a thermal one time, they were up so high they looked tiny - CONDORS.  Have to agree - Awesome!  Great you kept your head and had some enjoyment with a new buddy  Go back there now and then when you see that Hawk.

Good?  That was great!!!!  I would think that was your pet.  Crazy.  I would be fearful that it would decide to be territorial and attack the competition.
