Caro Litchi Pilots,

They typically don't list every change an update makes, unfortunately.

Had this in an e-mail from Litchi today regarding this new firmware:

Dear Litchi Pilots,

The new DJI firmware updates for Mavic Pro (v01.03.0600) and Phantom 4 Pro (v01.03.0509) fixed the issue introduced in the previous firmware versions which would cause erratic behavior in some of Litchi's flight modes. All of Litchi's flight modes are safe to use again with the latest firmware version for the Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro. The issue still exists in the current firmware for the Inspire 2.

Installed the new FW using the DJI Assistant 2 software on my Windows PC. It updated without any issues on my P4P, the remote and all of the batteries.   Make sure you update your batteries one at a time after Phantom finished or FW is completed...

So far everything is working fine after one flight in very strong wind gusts.  I believe this has fixed my camera centering issue. My camera was aiming to the left of center (no matter what I did)  now, it seems to be centered again after I did the camera calibration.

My P4P (no plus) took maybe 8mins to complete the update.

Rich et al, this suggests that the P4P update incorporates a battery firmware update also. Can someone confirm this please (the middle two LEDs flash when the battery is receiving an update).

I'm concerned because this may make the batteries incompatible with the P4 firmware (again). This was fixed in the P4 beta firmware provided to testers in January, but this latest P4P update may put the battery firmware out-of-sync again. This is a serious limitation for me, as I then need to maintain some batteries specifically for use in each craft - reducing fly time if I only want to take one of my craft out.

Yes, the batteries needed to be updated and the 2 LED's indicated during the update. okay I only have the new P4P high capacity batteries and I do not know if this would be a problem with the P4 drone when interchanged.  I sold my P4 and cannot test this out anymore  .. sorry

OK - thanks for confirming, Rich. I'll upgrade my P4P with one battery (only) tonight, and see if that battery then works in my P4 (with 2.0.0.12 Beta firmware) tonight before committing all my batteries. If I see an 'incompatible firmware' message with the P4, then I'll have to go back to keeping some batteries aside for each of my P4P and P4... sigh.

Yes - you need to update for each battery. When successful updated, return to firmware screen, power the craft down, swap batteries, then when the firmware screen returns, select 'refresh'.

It'll be a lot faster after the first time, as you've already downloaded the update file, and the craft seems to know what components have been installed and accelerates through those.

I suspect each firmware update is a series of modules e.g. gimbal control, battery, sensors, etc. You can tell when it reaches each (gimbal moves, battery starts to blink...)

The craft doesn't know how many batteries you have. But when you power everything up and the app advises 'incompatible firmware' or similar, that's the indication that something isn't up-to-date (and it's typically the battery firmware with that message).
But not every craft firmware will update the battery firmware, so that's why I update the craft always with the battery facing me. If the middle two LEDs come on and one is blinking, I know that I'll need to refresh the firmware with each other battery too.

OK. I can confirm that the battery firmware in this latest P4P release is different to the battery firmware in the P4 Beta firmware. i.e. once you've updated your P4P you won't be able to move batteries between each craft again. Of course, if you didn't have access to the P4 Beta, you haven't been able to for a while.

So, if you're running the P4 Beta firmware tested in January on your P4, and you're enjoying being able to cleanly move batteries between it and your P4P - DON'T update your P4P until the next prod firmware is released for the P4, unless the fixes are a compelling reason for you.

I have heard back from the Beta admin, and I'm advised that the P4 firmware will bring them in sync again. Release timeframe for P4 is still 'maybe next week'.

just updated the other two batteries following your instructions (many thanks, BTW !) and it was fast and smooth. (P4P and iPad Air 2) The warning, after starting the App was "inconsistent software" or something like it about some modules, for each battery.

Rich, took your advice and swapped batteries (I have 2) and there were no actions noted with either. Both just worked fine, although one has over 6 amp hours available. (6,000 mAh).

Thanks for the advice though.

Bootspike,

Are your batteries all high capacity ones or a mixture?
I have three batteries, one high capacity (P4P) & two lower capacity (P4). The one in the aircraft update with the P4P firmware & when I swapped out the batteries I got a notification of mis-matched firmware & had to update each low capacity battery in turn. This didn't trigger straight away & had to close DJI GO 4 app & power off aircraft before it popped up for the first of the two batteries. The second one popped up the message as soon as it was inserted.

Updated fine via dji go4  iPad Pro
Had to set up various settings including RTH height which had altered to 30 metres, had a 15 minute fly from my back garden on 2.4 and all seemed ok, I didn't get any wind warnings either, horizon tilt was ok, is it advisable to do an IMU and gimbal after a big firmware update ? Or only do it if you have any problems?

I would say "if it ain't broken, don't fix it"... I would do calibrations only  when requested by the software (except compass calibration, which I do when I fly from a relevantly different location...)

I had the Phantom connected to DJI Assistant 2 using the cable to my windows 10 based computer. Put the next battery into the P4P and turn it on with the software will have a pop up that one of the modules needs to be updated. Then you tap on the confirm button and the battery will begin to have 2 LEDs flash as it updates.
It will tell you when the process is complete.

I noticed that the capacity got a bump after the update and most likely will calibrate when you complete some deep cycles on the packs which resets them. Fly the pack down as low as possible then let it run down to about 5-8% and recharge to full. The Intelligent circuit should be reading more accurately after this is done a one or two times.

This is just a software thing and you really do not have a larger capacity battery. I checked my packs 6020 6026 and 6028
