Saw this video on another forum:

No idea what firmware is on this Mavic, but I'm pretty sure it's not an official DJI firmware.  However, I do wish that DJI would update the firmware to allow for us to switch to ATTI mode manually, instead of only switching automatically when there isn't enough GPS..

After re-watching the video, it seems that the guy switched the Mode button on the right to Sports mode, then did a quick 3 time switch from Sports to P-Mode and Sports before getting to this "acrobatic" mode..  Anyone up for trying it?

Any Thai members here can help us to translate what he's saying?

Hmm.. I don't know if it's fake. When the goggles come out for fpv flying..... this is a mode you would want to be in... so I would think a 3 click acro mode could be very plausable.

That's not a Mavic.............listen to it.

That c-o-n-v-e-n-i-e-n-t period away from looking at the Mavic allowed time for a cheeky switch

I'm not so sure. If you watch the flying sequence, it's one continuous tracking shot with no edits. Certainly looks like a Mavic when it lands?

What I mean......is........it might look like a Mavic but those motors............no way.

Someone has shoehorned racing quad hardware into a mavic shell IMO

I don't believe the Mavic is capable to fly like this. Other drones that can (Vortex from Blade for example) are much lighter

I don't know, the Mavic is pretty quick in sports mode.. it might be doable...
I saw when the phantom X video was released.. evereryone is calling that fake and just a phantom 4 with no landing gear, they say it's all C.G.
I think it's possible.. if you hack the firmware there may be some untapped potential for the motors as well..

The first guy with the DJI shirt sounds like a Mavic.
The second guy's Mavic sounded like a racing quad, that one was definitely fake

I can't believe people are actually thinking this is real or that slamming a tiny camera gimbal around is a good idea .

This is how I look at it. You buy a Mavic not for it to be able to fly like a race drone but because of its portability and it quality video and photo capabilities. It is a camera rig. If you want something that flips and rolls and does crazy stuff then go out and buy a race drone. They are meant for that and they are 'made' to be crashed. The arms and other components are relatively inexpensive when compared to the Mavic or Phantom.

No such thing as "sport plus mode". I tried with skepticism, no such mode.

Sleight of hand- they swapped out the Mavic for a Mavic clone... April Fools video.

I think the gimbal could handle it. I have a rear camera installed, get to see how the quad actually handles in sport mode and the gimbal gets slammed plenty hard imo.

I'm pretty sure the guys at dji have mavics pimped out into race quad / p4p hybrids. I mean why not?

I believe it's possible.  If you took that 20 some minutes of sports mode and expended the batteries in 5 minutes that's what you'd get.  My 3D single rotor helis only get 5 minutes and they show that kind of power to weight ratio.  If the battery, ESC and motors could handle the heat and it the rest was structurally sound at those g forces, then it's only a software switch from possible imo.
