Is there a way to push the Mavic beyond its ceiling limit?
I want to visit the Angel Falls in Venezuela. The tallest waterfall in the World: 1,000m (3,000ft).
That's twice the ceiling limit of the Mavic.

The only other way is climbing to the top or taking a helicopter. That defeats the purpose of having the UAV.
Would any 3rd party software do the trick?

What do you mean by cieling limit? The mavic can fly way over 5,000 meters in elevation and you can set max height above take off to 500m.  If you want to fly to the top of the falls from the bottom, then you have an issue.  Third party software can't get around the 500 meter limit. The only thing I could see is launching from a higher elevation but you really don't need to get to the top of the falls to get good video.

It's no trouble. The limitation of 500 meters is over the height from the place you are flying from (takeoff place).

Good trip, Leif.

Can turn on the oa and fly around obstacles. Then on sunny morning keep it pointed right at the sun and it should keep climbing in rth. Even strap a small light to the oa it should behave the same way in rth, then turn off rth and oa at the top get the shot on the way down.

There is only an upper limit, not a bottom one. So start anywhere from 500m-1000m(top of the falls) and let it sink down before climbing again. Oh another thing: Be careful of the laws there, heard a guy was arrested and had quite the trouble at some popular falls. Often falls are located at borders and it is forbidden to fly near borders.

Cheers,

Sam
