Here is a very informative write up on the ESC's.  Give your self about 30 min to read it and look at the graphs.  This helped me to even beter understand what is goin on with in our aircrafts.  Simply mind boggling and amazing.

I bought both a phantom 4 and a phantom 4 pro today. The p4 had an ESC error code straight out of the box and the p4p worked perfectly for 5 minutes of flying time before giving me an ESC error code, forcing me to land, and now it won't initialize without giving me the error....HELP

Phantomblake,  Sorry you are having issues right out of the box, BUT you do need to read your manuals from cover to cover first.  You will also need to make sure you are up to date on the firmware and make sure you calibrate your IMU (cold), compass, vision sensors, RC, etc.  Then try and go fly.  Remember, read your manual from cover to cover.  This will help you understand your aircrafts better in case something happens.
