This Shell has only been on this Quad for about two weeks now and with very limited flying time on it. This is just Totally Unacceptable for what these Quads cost and the number of them that DJI has coming back every single day with the same problem!

Seems to have been a batch of bad plastic recently?  The P4 didn't used to have many problems with shells.

Has that shell been repaired and reused?!

Just to clarify, did you purchase the unit 2 weeks ago or is this after a repair service?

No it's about 4 months old now and the shell was replaced two weeks ago. 2 shells in 4 months I guess that's about par for the course.

I am sorry you are going through that. Was the small round hole I see, drilled by you to stop the cracking, or is that part of the defect? Also, is the bird "new" or returned from DJI after someother repair?

I made the small holes to stop the crack. I bought this unit about 4 months ago as a refurb. I think I'll run it until it falls apart and then send it in for another one. They're all gonna crack it's just a matter of time on all of them.

If you haven't had a hard landing and it's cracking this quickly after 2 weeks of light use, you may want to contact Support about it so that it could be addressed via an escalated service. Prolonging the need for service would be at your discretion.

This thread is an omen lol.
Day I commented on that I had no stress cracks I have a small one near the motor.
I examined how the motor is attached and it appears it shouldn't cause an issue. However it's not good. Sending mine for warranty repair.

is there some kind of third party addition to the shell of your drone?  There are some really strange areas in your images, looks like they were 3-d printed and added.  What gives?  Can  you send a picture of the entire drone so we can see what you have added?

I agree. Whats up with the silicone looking goop at the landing gear bases. Or is that a  3-D printed add-on?

My P4 is just over a year old, I've got 54 hours in the air and my total distance is 4,008,681 Feet (780 miles)...   I've flown in temperatures as low as 25 below zero.  I just inspected my drone with a magnifying glass.   No issues at all here.

I've been following this forum for a year.  There have been some complaints about cracks, but they are quite rare.  You have a very unique problem.  I hope you can get it resolved.

I do wonder if that modification may be causing the issue, there appears to be an extra piece of plastic jammed in between the case and the leg, could easily be causing stresses where there shouldn't be stresses, plus of course the extra weight and the plastic item joining two legs is going to alter the way vibrations are handled within the aircraft.

First shell cracked the same way and it did not have anything "jammed" onto it.

I am not trying to get you worked up, but I agree with Nigel. I have the exact same drone as you and I do not have that extra piece of plastic jammed in between the case & leg, or goop, or a 3D printed mod, or whatever that is, we are seeing in the photos. And, it could surely be causing the stresses that are causing the cracking.

So after reading this thread, I got my p4 out and examined it. Not one stress crack found. 81 flights, 600,000 feet flown, and no cracks! Perhaps the owner has some inner self checks to preform. In fact the only thing out of sorts was the blood I missed cleaning when I hit something while flying over a lake. There was a lot of blood, too much for just a bug I figured. I am thinking more along the lines of a hummingbird. Anyway, I missed some during my clean up. I never did notice an anomaly during that flight.

Your opinion means nothing to me after a remark like that sir. Or mam whichever the case may be. And my drone has been flown four times more than yours has.

Give up. He's one of those guys that is not happy until he's mad.
He claims he's flown it a million miles.
So, it served him well.
Junk it and get a new one.

No I just wipe it with a dry cloth sometimes. I'm gonna get another shell and line the inside with Plast-Aid and see if that will make the shell hold up any better. That Plast-Aid is some good stuff.

I now just noticed a hairline crack beginning at the motor. My P4 has less than 10 hours of very easy flight. No crashes or rough landings,  95% P mode, extremely cared for.

What's up with this?

I just emailed my info to DJI's support with a pic of the crack & proof of purchase, but after reading others comments (in this and other forums), I'm deeply concerned about not only this obvious defect in the body, but DJI's CS as well.

I may be getting out of this hobby just as quick as I got into it..

How long does it take for someone at DJI to get back to you anyways?

I sent an email yesterday and have heard nothing as of yet.

Is this part of the P4's avoidance system ?

You can do an online repair request and after you enter all the info they will send you a shipping label to send it back with. Only takes a few minutes.
