Hello, I would like to shoot some chimneys on a sheltered building, how close could I get near the chimneys without having a bug from the compass?

That's hard to say without knowing more. For example, what kind of metal are we talking about? Aluminum? Steel? Something else? And what's underneath the roof?

I'll guess, though, that the correct answer to your question of how close you can get without having a problem is "very close". In fact, probably close enough that your biggest risk will be crashing into the building due to a pilot error.

What I do know is that the only time I remember ever having a compass error appear after a flight began was when I flew within less than a meter of a large quantity of steel, and even then I didn't experience any strange behavior or problems other than the message itself. So my guess -- but that's all it is -- is that you won't have a problem either.

For getting an impression about the magnetic influence, you can  watch the compass interference in advanced settings / sensors while holding the mavic with your hands an move it closer/farer to steel or magnetic material. The magnetic influence decreases quickly by moving away from it. Don't use the roof for this test

If that's the case you'll probably be fine.

My roof is metal and I have flown within a foot or two many times without incident.
