Hi,
I noticed this problem some time ago, never thought about posting my solution, but its quite an easy fix.
I bought some plastic caps from B&Q in the UK similar to Bunnings in Australia. Cut them down so that they are approximately 15mm in height. Just tape on over teh engine thread with some electricans tape when in cases easily taken off and back on each time and doesnt damage anything. It does however prevent the thread from ripping off bits of foam that get into the engine.

You will also note how I have used some fishing 22lb breaking strain braid throught the rubber mounts.
