I removed the app, then removed all traces off JDI with FX, reïnstalled the app. Installed the firmware upgrade. No more problems. The simulator is wisely still untouched.

I actually got it to work without the Chinese number pop up late last night. Replicated everything this morning, same mobile, same network, strong GPS signal........and guess what Chinese number request back again !!!

Sorry for this, I've forwarded the info to our engineers, they'll check it, I will let you know once I got a reply from them.

The problem is somehow linked with the simulator, because i was OK until i tried to lunch the simulator then the message started to pop up when i lunch the App!!!
The only fix now is to reset everything and never open the simulator.

Please find a fix ..

Hi, g.williams, we've checked the info of this drone, it is a Chinese version, I would recommend you contact the reseller to replace or refund it. Besides, it is recommended to purchase the drone from a DJI authorized retailer. http://www.dji.com/where-to-buy

Please try to link to a local network, put the AC to a place where has GPS signal, restart the AC and app. Check if it could help.

I have a brand new P4P+ just taken it out of the box and updated the Firmware as it requested. Haven't flown it yet, but did try the Simulator as is suggested in all the DJI documentation. The RC requested updates again so I did this and now I see the little Map icon which wasn't there before and it shows all China maps available for download. As soon as I turn on the RC and AC it now asks me to Link my Chinese Phone Number. This is ridiculous as I'm in Australia and I find it hard to imagine that with all the terrific programming technology that DJI has, that such a bug could exist. How do I fix this?

1. Clear all cache in Settings.
2. Bring the aircraft to the place with strong GPS signal.
3. Connect your mobile device to local network and reboot the APP.
4. Reconnect aircraft to APP.
If the APP shows the Chinese map, please reset RC to factory default in Settings.

Thanks Mindy. My machine is a Pro+ so it doesn't use a "mobile device" - the screen is integrated! I will try the other part of your suggestions and let you know how it goes. Hopefully DJI are doing something a bit more substantial to prevent this occurring in the first place.

Same experience as me.

I've travelled from NZ to Atlanta for a motorcycle trip. Bought drone here in Atlanta. After the pain of upgrading all the firmwares. I struck the 4.1.8 bug with Android and needing all that help. I finally got some flight. While mucking around, I thought I would try the simulator...and that's when I got the china number issue.  I actually have a dual sim Samsung S7 which I did buy in Hong Kong, so was wondering if others had a different region phone?

Anyway, I deleted the app, used file commander and searched/deleted anything that had DJI in it. Reinstalled and got passed that issue.

I'm really surprised how complicated the process has been, I'm good at tech as I think most of the people are that would bother to get a drone...but omg, it was about to go back to the shop until I got some success.

I trust DJI to get it fixed, I'm sure they will

I went into to my droid settings > DJI Go 4 > Clear Data and it worked again without reinstalling

Please avoid using Simulator temporarily, we have reported this issue to our engineers for attention, hope it will get sorted out soon.

Login to the DJI app when you see the message that says mainland China telephone number just go back and go back into the app the message should go away and you should be able to go fly your mavic that's all you got to do no sweat

All seems to be ok apart from the Simulator and I don't need it anyway so it's not going to be a problem for me.

SOLUTION FOR SPARK USER:
. Turn Off Spark
. Turn On again
. Gesture Mode (klik twice the power button)
. Land your Spark
. Turn Off
. DONE
. Try with your phone again, then the problem should hv solved

Had scheduled a video-shoot for today and since i am a beginner and it was going to be indoors with atti mode I decided to give myself a little bit more training with the simulator yesterday evening.
Today when the video-filming-session was about to take place - the app prompts me for a China mainland phone number - with no way of bypass the prompt dialog!!
I did not know of this issue so I had to cancel the session since I could not get my Mavic flying.

I have recreated this silly behaviour several times now - and it is consistent.
Be indoors (Atti mode) - try the simulator - close the app - start the app and you will see the problem.

This is so stupid to implement something that actually prevent people to use the hardware that they have payed money for AND in some cases use to earn money. Stupid is a light word in this case.. its super-stupid-silly-wrong-everybadwordiknow stupid implementation!!!
And the developers have known about it for several month now!

Phantom Pro Plus, purchased in the UK from Amazon  and being installed in the UK.  I cannot start it up because it is demanding the "mainland China telephone number" as noted on this forum.  

I have tried several of the suggested fixes on this forum without success.  The screen simply locks up at the activation by telephone screen.  I am astonished to follow the postings on this forum to discover how long this problem seems to have been occurring without resolve.  I would never have made such an expensive purchase if I had had sight of these posts in advance.

If I cannot get an immediate resolution to this problem then I will return the device for a refund and purchase another brand.

What is your APP version?  Please reinstall the APP, see if it works.

I got the same problem Today. Few days ago all was fine. Today i wanted to update my firmware by dj assistant. after update that annoying pop up appeared and ruined everything.
It's strange that why still no solution for such problem and from many people...
I spend 2.5 hours on online chat with dji Assistant. No result. We almost delete installed everything, settings and so on.. but nothing.
I bought my Drone from USA, First flight at my residence Turkey. As i'm sailor now i'm at Indonesia. And that where had happened.

I got the same problem Today. Few days ago all was fine. Today i wanted to update my firmware by dj assistant. after update that annoying pop up appeared and ruined everything.

Hello again and Hello everyone!

I want to share my flight experience today regarding mobile number registry prompt.

I did exactly you said Dji Elektra but it was useless. Than i decided to play with app and the drone.

Mobile data was on turn on remote, than craft and app opened and prompt appeared immediately.
Same happened while mobıle data was off.

Than i totaly closed the app. and started my engines without any app mobile data was on. Than i started the app and there were NO PROMPT at all!! than i made a short flight and landed. Just right after i stop engines prompt appeared..

I tried again start flying app but it was failure as i described in the first try. Than try the same second attempt opening app after starting engines i was able to use the drone and prompt appeared after landing and engines stopped.

During flight i got the normal notification on the left again regarding registiring mobile number issue but it was just notification but it was mentioned that my flight altitude and distance were restricted this time. i couldnt flew more than 50mtrs away.

I again send the verPhone data for your investigation.
Maybe problem with the app only? but not the craft?

I want to share my flight experience today regarding mobile number registry prompt.

Hi, according to the screenshot, the satellites and GPS signal is a bit weak, please try to move the drone in a place with fine GPS signal, restart the drone, link to a local network, then try to reinstall the app again.

Hi.

I've done what you have mentioned and more together with DJi assistant with online chat and we tried abt almost 2 hours. Due to battery consumption and weekend we postponed try. There was no success. We did it with full GPS signal.

Anyway i did what you advised but still no change.

The idea of the screenshot was to show the notification only about the mobile number  registry and restriction about flight altitude and distance because of registry problem.
