Hi peeps, looking for answers as to why my output files, either MOV or MP4 are not recognised by DaVinci Resolve 12.5

I see some people have no issue what so-ever which gives me hope it could be as simple as a missing codec from my PC.

Currently transcoding in PPro to a format which 12.5 will recognise but the IQ drops through this method and its time consuming.

Why dont i use PP for grading? I prefer 12.5 thanks.

I have formatted the  XD withing the Mavic, so i dont beoieve its file type problwm ie: fat32 etc

I have tried different settings for camera such as cinelike, Dlog etc

What am i missing, who can help ?

Cheers

Are you using the free or paid version. The free version only supports 1080p not 4k.

Well that is the answer i am looking for.
Thankyou jenee, i was not aware of that.

EDIT: I just checked the website and it says FREE VERSION  "DaVinci Resolve 12.5 is the world’s most advanced editing and color grading system for independent users working on SD, HD and *Ultra HD* projects"
I needed to read the fine print i thinks.
So it must have limitations built in that obviously i dont understand.
I dont think the value is there for $475 so i guess its back to PP.

Thanks jenee

I have no problems with ultra HD (3840 pixels × 2160 lines) which is technically 4K.

Well that is the answer i am looking for.
Thankyou jenee, i was not aware of that.

I have had zero issues with 3840 pixels × 2160 lines at 30 fps (ultra HD) with the free version of 12.5.

Try to download the Beta 14 and see if it works. It is also faster and more user friendly. Just rename the old installation if you want to keep it

Did you ever try to encode videos into DNxHD codec?  I used this software to transcode my videos into davinci resolve.

MP4 and MOV is a video container format which may include the Davinci unsupported video or audio codec
In this case, it is better to convert it to Davinci more supported video format with the help of iDealshare VideoGo.
