This video was taken after launching from 13,200 ft below Mt. Sheridan (summit 13,748) . The flight goes over Mt. Sheridan's summit and the there's a nice view of Mt. Sherman just to the right (taken on Memorial Day with Dianne Littrell Stiller and Julie Smith). Note, Video shot in 4K but rendered at 1080.

It's between Breckenridge (or Fairplay but hardly anyone knows Fairlplay) and Leadville, Colorado. It's one of the centential 13ers (the 100 highest peaks above 13,000 feet in Colorado).  It is right next to Mt. Sherman (one of the 14ers) which can see just to the right of Mt. Sheridan in the video.

Awesome! Nice to know the Mavic can fly well at that altitude. How cold was it?

It was relatively warm. I think it was right around freezing (0C/32F) at the coldest at the summit of Sheridan.  I previously flown the Mavic at over 14,000 feet down to 8 F.

I had a read a report on one of the mountaineering sites that a Mavic was flown over Everest base camp this year (that's over 18,000 feet msl).  Considering how well the Mavic flies for me above 14,000, I fully expect it to do fine well above 16,000.  The 5,000 m/16,400 ft limit is probably the most DJI wants to guarantee, it doesn't mean the Mavic won't do better than that.

Wolfgangstiller.... you're a fellow Colorado-an??  I totally know where those mountains are.   My wife and I climbed Quandary (14er) last summer!  Love the area.  If you want to go flying sometime, PM me.

Yes, I'm a fellow Coloradan. I am generally hiking (and taking along my Mavic)  in the mountains every week but my wife is recovering from hip surgery right now so my activities will be limited for a while.  I have done all the 14ers (most multiple times on different routes) and lots of 13ers as well.

Nice.  We have done a total of about 4 with a few 13ers mixed in.  Working on all the others.  Goal: All 14ers

The nice thing about 14ers is that the routes and risks are well established.  With website 14ers.com you can get all the latest information including gpx files of many of the routes.
