Similar results as yours. Definitely having the bounce issue. It was scary first time it dropped a couple feet. Then I started monitoring more closely and did some testing. I will pop it up to 20 feet or so. And then watch the altitude. It will move up and down at least a foot.

Also having level horizon issues, even after couple IMU cold calibrations. Squeaky gimble problem.

Getting a replacement from Apple tomorrow. Will see if that helps, and let you all know.

TK-421, how low did you fly? less than 2.5m (8.2ft)?
if you did then try to turn off VPS because VPS will adjust the phantom 4 base on the level of ground

I am new to flying the Phantom 4 and at about 20' in altitude and hovering with no stick movements, I noticed a bouncing up and down of maybe 1 plus feet.  Being new, I didn't know if this was the norm or not.

Tim, I would love to get you the flight records. Please instruct me exactly how to do that. See my  ...

I've been flying the P4 for a month and it has been nothing but perfect.
The DAT files of the flight log will tell exactly what happened.
In the Assistant2 , choose flight record, then check the boxes of FC file that you want to have analyzed. then click save to local and the log will same to when you saved it.
Then upload that log to Dropbox or whatever you use for file sharing and attach the link in your DJi ticket.
Also, have you preformed a camera sensor calibration, see if that helps.

I would like to add my voice to this and say that I have definitely noticed the drop in altitude when coming to a stop. I was flying tap-to-fly one time and saw the drone came to a stop nearly in a tree due to the obstacle avoidance feature, however, when stopping it drops in altitude by nearly a foot sometimes more. Had I not had my hand on the controller and raised the altitude it would have lowered onto a branch and likely fallen to ground. This is a serious issue with the P4 that needs to be addressed ASAP.

Hey guys,  thanks for the post.  I reported the horizon issue last week.  It is a real problem and very unfortunate for those of us who do landscape videography and photography.
I'm not sure what I should do about this, as the P4 has some amazing features but not having an even horizon is such a negative.   Other then that I really love this drone, but will have to stick with my I1Pro for horizon issues.

Here is a link to a comparison I did with the P4 and Inspire 1 Pro -

For the life of me, no matter how many firmware updates/IMU calibrations/general calibrations/gimbal angles, I cannot get rid of these distorted horizons.  Anyone have any advice?  I'm stumped here.

A IMU calibration will solve that.
And if it still persists, make sure the sensors on the VPS unit are clean.
IF nothing helps and it still bounces when hovering then it may need to be sent in for repair.
You are on the latest firmware correct?
Also, try flying over different surfaces to see if it changes.
The VPS on the P4 works on sonar for altitude and over 10m it's the barometer that gives you altitude.

Multiple meticulous IMU calibrations didn't help the bouncing in my case (so far). But now there's ...

Can you post a video of the bouncing and I will have the repair center view it.
Thanks

Ok, thanks.
Don't know why the date is one day ahead, the P4 is fast but not that fast
You can try to delete the app and reinstall and see if it make any difference.
Is it exactly one day, or are the hours way off too from 24hrs.

I will have the DAT file analyzed tomorrow and get back to you.

OK, I talked to Tim. Its the language you used. "whoever is doing this is a blank blank.
That's what caused it.
You have to remember, there's many many people viewing these posts including hundreds of users and upper management who want friendly talk and no name calling. It's their forum and their rules and everyone has to respect that.
So, in the future just please watch the name calling.
And if you think someone may be offended by you comment, please edit the comment to be a little nicer

Awesome. I hope that is the correct file. The actual flight time was 6:37pm (mountain time, US) on ...

There may be a slight bob if your is Sport mode and coming to a fast stop and your in the VPS range.
Remember, the VPS uses sonar to measure your altitude in the VPS range (10m).
So if you are in Sport mode and the aircraft is close to a 45 degree angle and then you stop really quick to level, the sonar reflection can get messed up and the aircraft may ascend or descend a few feet.
If you do this at a higher altitude then the barometer is controlling altitude and you shouldn't get that.
Also, it depends of the terrain you are flying over since the return sonar reflection may act different over grass, pavement, sand, or whatever.

Can you try it over the pavement and see i it still does it.
That terrain may be the reason with all the foilage, if it does it over flat ground then it may be an issue.
