I've been wanting to use the Osmo and the Air together and I finally found the right place: A few thousand feet up along the Yuba River, in Northern California. This is not my first video tinged slightly red by the haze of nearby forest fires - you can see how smoky the sky looks in some shots.
A few fun facts about this video:
I just discovered that if I shoot 120 fps slow motion video with the drone, I can edit that in post to speed up short bits of the scene, trying to time that to downbeats of the music. Still working on this technique, but you can see me playing with the concept in the first scene. I'm going to work on this more - I love this effect.
I crossed a fairly slippery river holding the Osmo and was a bit freaking out that I would give the Osmo an accidental batism, but all went well!
I could not get a GPS signal due to being in a canyon, so this was all ATTI mode. I would have gone higher / farther but it was a bit dicey on ATTI.
This was all shot along a common naked swimming hole used to escape the daily 100 degree temperatures there, so I had to show up early in the morning to get there before anyone else. Later that day, there were about 20 naked bathers. In one scene, look for a nude in the water. No, not a person - the word spelled out in rocks on the river bed.
Check out the scene where I fly the Osmo between the trunks of a landmark tree there (love doing that kind of thing).
