I think that it's awesome that DJI recognizes the helpfulness of their products beyond photography. The Fire, Police, and emergency services are very much aware of their usefulness and are currently budgeting to buy a UAS in the next year or two. With the existing capabilities of the Inspire1, it's a good choice by these departments already. BUT, if DJIwould offer an affordable integrated FLIR camera that utilizes the quick attach and lightbridge system of the X3 or X5, they could capture the majority of the market share. Not only is this good for the profit line, but it adds huge amounts of credibility to the DJI product line --
"DJI -- Trusted by more Fire and Police than any other..."
I bought what I thought was the best platform to take great pictures
And videos a long Ike ago now. It seems to me that after they brought
Out the P3 they started a campaign to sell a lot of them and was
Pushing the P3's and kind of forgot about the Inspire. What do
You think?
I don't think that they did that at all. There's a lot of competition on the P3 level but the Inspire1 is somewhat in a class of it's own right now. They just brought out the X5, which makes that statement even more true.
As far as emergency services work, the Inspire1 platform is 3 to 4 times more useful than the Phantom platform.
Yeah, I would also say that bringing out the P3 was nothing new. We had the P1 and the P2 before it and the Phantom line has always been a best seller. A good guess would be that there will be a P4 and P5 and so on. It is not like we put out the P3 and started a campaign to sell it. The campaign to sell Phantoms has been there all along.
Unfortunately the FAA would find this to be "illegal" if none of the parties in this video had their Section 333. Yet a "hobbyist" could fly with no problem. Thanks Government!
@Skylinewg - one thing you don't understand is that a Sheriff of the county can override FAA during an emergency and commandeer any vehicle regardless of FAA rules
and regulations. Trust me I know! ;) So section 333 can stick it where the sun doesn't shine in the event of saving life!
I think we all agree life is very precious. You did a great
Video, by the way. And yes, I love my Inspire and Dave
Has helped me a lot and I owe him. When it comes to
Saving a life I'm sure all of us on this board would do
Whatever we could to do it. Just wanted to say those
Things, especially about Dave. Thanks Dave for your
Help from time to time as you do not really know how
Much you have helped me. Wanted to take you to lunch in Vegas
However, you didn't go to the convention. Are you
Going to the one in LA, CA in December? Please let me
Know if you do. Thanks again. And again the video is
Very good. Along with what you said and posted.

Actually, all government entities don't need an exemption to fly UAS. They do need a COA for now. The FAA is currently looking into a "blanket COA" for all emergency service gov't entities. I think that would be a wise move on their part.
Thanks, I appreciate that. It looks like I might be going to the LA show. So if I do I will let you know.
No need to buy me lunch just a good pat on the back will do.
If you plan on me getting your lunch and no fighting
Is allowed. I hope to see you there. I also want to see
All the new DJI stuff to. So, hope to see you there.
Until then, stay safe and enjoy you days.
There have been a few good solutions like that. IntelligentUAS has the best one that I have seen to date. Even streams the video over lightbridge to the GO App. Problem is that there isn't a solution yet that:
1) Will allow full gimbal control and stream lightbridge (like IntelligentUAS)
AND
2) Allow for either a quick change or dual display by either utilizing the Inspire1 camera coupling or a solution like the heliguy.
Yes, I know that I want my cake and eat it too but I actually use mine in situations where I need exactly that. I'm hoping that DJI will either produce one or work through one of their partnerships in the USA to produce one. The emergency services domain is about to explode on the UAS market and it would be a worthwhile investment for DJI if they would produce one.
