David, I think you're confused. You own the CDs, but I don't see how you possibly got from there to thinking you own the music. You don't. You never acquired the rights to perform the music publically, so when you do you're doing so criminally. The venue the music is being performed at is responsible to pay ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC for those rights. For a multi-use, world-wide, public broadcaster such as YouTube, those fees would be astronomical. |
