Very impressive collection of autumn stills.  You are definitely getting some miles in on the Mini 2 already.  Hope the weather continues to cooperate.

You basically cant change the hours/days as to when the discharge beings on the newer drones. I charged my batteries last night and took them out this afternoon - more than 12 hours after charging but less than 24. All 3 were still on 100% at take off.

You are probably not the best person to test this, since you fly (almost) everyday
I guess with the M2P battery problem, they have changed this.
Maybe even because the batteries had to be made lighter, which could lead to less stable behavior.

Anywho, it does not really suit my way of flying, since I only flew once a week (or less). So that would mean I have to charge them before every flight.
Whereas I could leave my MP batteries for 7 days and still have 100%
Not a dealbreaker, just a bit less convenient.

My Mavic Mini batteries stay fully-charged for a week or more, I've noticed. Not entirely sure that's a good thing.

I charge them from 15% to 50% when I get back from flying then to 100% the night before or straight to 100% if I know I'm flying the next day. That way I never need to rely on the auto discharge and never leave the batteries in the bag on 100% for longer than a day. You just need to know where the lines are drawn and work with them on these batteries. Having the flexibility to set the discharge yourself would be better although leaving batteries on 100% for a week won't be good for them in the longer term - which explains a lot of the issues with the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom batteries swelling this year.

I guess that is changed from MP then, because I have always left those ones at 100%  for 10 days before the discharging started and never had any issues. The batteries were still good for 21 minutes real flight time when I sold it.
(so they did degrade, but not too much considering the 200 flights I made (so all 3 batteries had at least 66 charging cycles,  but I know it was more because I also re charged them all without using them all )

For me flying is (was) more a 'ad hoc' decision as I usually don't know I want to fly tomorrow, so that worked best for me.
Again, no real dealbreaker but something that makes the process a lot less spontaneous and something to take into consideration how this will affect my flighing options.

It's luck of the draw sometimes with these batteries. I've never had a dodgy one to date but seen many who have.

Not sure about MP batteries.
I don't recall many issues with those.

I saw loads of vids back in the day with those batteries swelling up but they seem to have fixed them in the later batches and firmware

Understandably, You tend to hear from the people who've had problems, rather than the ones who haven't. Touch wood, I've never had a battery problem in almost 4 years and 4 different drones.

I think it's fair to say that the majority have had little to no problems. I never seen a thread dedicated to saying how great someones batteries are.

Can you imagine - anyone and everyone who have had issues with a battery will cast their opinion - opening a can of worms springs to mind! Sadly human nature is to complain more than to compliment.

I reckon I must be luckier than many of the denizens of this forum. I've had so little problem with any of my kit over the years. And some of those were self-inflicted

Maybe they did add more juice to the newer batteries because the MP could not fly that long giving the batteries less margin for errors.

Do you know if the MA2 did have more options than MM2 in the fly app?
Or is it the same for all drones ?

MA2 can record in higher frame rates and has an HDR option for video. It also takes panos and hyper lapses in 8K, smart photo and '48mp' still options, asteroid QuickShots, full focus track options such as POI and active track, it has APAS and burst mode with AEB in 3 or 5.

It also weighs 570g...

Ok, so they have settings that are different for MA2 in the fly app.
But no option for beep % and discharge days.

It's a relatively new app I guess (compared to Go / Go4) so seems to be work in progress but obviously in line with the capabilities of the drone being flown.

I like every drone I have ever flown and owned though some obviously more than others. This one however is really impressive given it's dimensions and weight. It's a bit of a marvel I must say. I don't think I'll ever sell it which is a first. I may buy another new release further up the ladder for different purposes but will have this one to hand for quite some time as a second/travel drone and with the new regs coming - I may only fly this one!

Of course.
I suspect (hope) the new app gave them the option to get rid of legacy code in Go4 that was probably logic at the time of writing, but not longer efficient.

The app is very streamlined - kind of minimalistic for beginners to navigate the sections more easily. Some love it and others hate it. I find it less cluttered than GO4 and prefer it but at a loss of some cool features.

Go4 was very cluttered indeed.
But you got used to it.
And change is difficult, but doable.

It did take a few flights to get use to the fly app - such as remembering to check the camera profiles when switching modes. For example if you record a normal vid in 4K then switch to QuickShots for the first time it will auto charge the res to 1080p so you have to go into the master settings to switch back to 4K. Room for improvement in minor areas.
