The camera on my new Mini 2 has a color shift in the center area - here, shooting a black curtain, I'd expect it to be dark grey or black across the full area, but a center circular area is noticably reddish. I have tried aut and manual white balance, and auto and manual exposures, and still and video at different frame rates.
Is this a common defect?  there a way to calbrate the black balance?

Hello, I’ve tried all modes auto, manual, video, and still images. It persists through all.

However In doing further research I’ve come to the understanding that it’s an endemic problem with very small sensor cameras.

Here, it seems to only affect very dark image portions, and is mainly noticeable on large dark objects like the black curtain.
